Finally had time to cut into the GAW box to see what goodies lie within.  My son and I did our preliminary check prior to heading out for his school theater event.  My brother-in-law couldn't make it this weekend so he's losing out.  We're going to do some pre-picks tomorrow and then make our final choices.
May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

My son and I finally made our final picks, but I can't post pictures of it because my image hosting site is having issues.  Hopefully it'll be resolved by tomorrow morning so I can post pictures.   :facepalm:

I'll pick up a new box and start playing tetris with the contents to get it sent out to Adam by this weekend.

Image hosting site is finally working.  My son's picks below.  I almost picked the NexTool for myself but my son really liked it.  It's his first full sized multi-tool so he's pretty proud of it.

* no-name black knife.
* Winnebago playing cards
* Key|Smart Alltul Wolf
* Husky utility knife
* Knight NexTool

My picks below.

* Rough Ryder Sowbelly lockback with denim micarta
* Imperial Ireland Farnham Livestock farrier hoof pick knife.

I don't own any horses but it's a cool looking knife.  I wish it still had the logo on the scales but it either wore off or was removed.  Looks like someone tried removing the logo from the blade as well but I'm going to see if I can bring some of it back.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Nice picks.  I like RR's denim Micarta.  Are you sure you want to let your son have the NexTool?  I'm pretty sure you could take him in a brawl. :pok:

   How is the content for the box now?  Is it still bulging on all sides on arrival?  Is there room for adding items, or do you have to sit on it to get it closed?  I didn't notice the playing cards in Aztec's photo.  I thought it was a box for the key thingie or something.  I remember seeing a deck of cards in the box last time I had it.  Might be the same one.  It wasn't roughed up then.  Mail handling takes a toll on this kind of thing.  Best wishes.  G

   I'm glad your son gets a kick out of the SOS box.  That is a nice RR denim locker.  Nice size to carry.  G

Remember, lazar was going to remove a few of the frequent flyers and donate them to scouts or something to free up some space in the box for some new stuff.  :cheers:

The box was "easier" to close but I did play a mean game of Tetris with it.  I didn't have to sit on it, this time.  I also refreshed some of the baggies because some of them looked worse than my unmentionables after going through a meat grinder.

I can only assume most of the internal damage was caused when the  Post Office in Texas used a bucking bronco for the delivery, after a herd of longhorns stampeded over it.

Regardless, the jackalope is on his way to Adam's house with the package and he's hoping to meet half way with Comet and Cupid to hopefully speed up the delivery.

    Just the place for it, friend Aztec.  I am sorry that SMKW stopped publishing their paper Christmas catalogs.  I always enjoyed learning about the new manufacturers and models.  Looking at the available Ruff Rida and Marbles knives was always a treat.  Pretty and affordable.  Best wishes.  G

Much like everything else these days, professional reindeer are quite expensive to hire. However, a friend of a friend has a second cousin who knows a reindeer named Leroy who is willing to do the job for a case of beer  :tu:

Medium Flat Rate Box shipping cost will be $22.95 in January 2026.  Keep that in mind when you head to the post office.  Need to take a couple extra bucks.  Best wishes.  G

Sorry, Alan  :ahhh

I am quite happy with what I found. I contemplated letting my grandson choose something also, but his grandmother says that at 8 years old, our grandson is 2 or 3 decades too young to handle knives  :facepalm:

I believe that I have given back to the box as good as I took out, and I may add a couple more things to ensure I leave it better than what I received. I just need for someone to step foward and ask for it to be sent to them.

I think we got my son his first BB gun at 9 and his first knife at 12.  Perhaps I did those backwards....  :think:   :facepalm:

Who wants to be the first person to get the surprise box in 2026?  Just say here in the forum that you want it and PM your info to the last person who had the box. They will send it to you.  You get to pick out whatever you want out of the box then you send it to whoever wants it next.  Adding to the box is optional but everyone has, so far.  The only expense is the postage.  There's always cool stuff in the box worth more than the cost of sending the box.  It would be great if someone who hasn't had it before could get it and join in on the fun.  :cheers:
