A pre Evo?     Doesn't do anything for me, but for the Buy it Now price, it better be silver!

Scales look like custom stainless or aluminum to me.  Not my cuppa, that's for sure.

Edit -- I guess he does claim "solid silver" doesn't he.  Huh.

First glance I thought it was one of those Porsche Wengers - Then looked more closely and of course it's not.

And yes - Pre-Evo - Absolutely

My considered, though less than expert, opinion: those scales are aftermarket. Though the price seems rather ridiculous, the seller deserves kudos for a detailed description.

I guess you would expect a hallmark for solid silver? Either was not very attractive even if the ergonomics did work.

Hallmarking is not required in the US as it is in the UK, for example.  Having a(n accurate) hallmark in the US is by luck or chance.  You basically have to trust the seller and/or manufacturer.

[Edited to correct stupid math errors.]

With the hook on the back, this has to be a Champion Plus.  Sakwiki places those around 2003-6, with some out to 2009.

Smartknives.com puts the original weight at 5.4 oz.  Since the scales were a minor part of that, that means the silver weight in this would be 9.1 - 5.7oz = 3.4 oz.  Thats about $75 worth of silver today.

In my humble opinion:  It's not a Champion C.  It's no older than 2004.  It's not greater than 50% silver, and that silver is worth less than $75.  Making those scales would not be difficult, speaking as someone who has worked with silver.  And the write-up seems a bit fantastical.   ::)

Ridiculous or not, it's still cheaper than the "off white" monstrosity that's coming directly from Victorinox.

I'm certain it's a one-off.
You think the guy's father/previous owner made it himself, to better suit his own grip?

Could be.  It doesn't look like something anyone would make without a reason.  That "flow" over to the backside is just so unusual.  Your thought about someone's grip might be spot on.

Well no-one bid on it - Not too surprising with a $395 start price and $~1,000 BIN - And a rather odd piece
But someone might like it !!

Let's look out for the re-listing

So now a BIN price of $575 and  no auction

Also not claiming silver scales anymore

Also this "Overall, this watch has been a part of my life for the last few years…"

Watch?   ???      Is it really a Supertimer under those scales? !!

I do find some of his rhetoric a bit much - eg "Sending it round the country to everyone knowledgable in the industry"
Everyone?   ???  I didn't see him ask anyone here!!!    :o
