Combo Edge Challenge
Day 7 of 30
Wenger Highlander

Had to scrape some dried paint off a rattle can nozzle so it would spray a usable pattern.

Just opening letters for me too... I can't say the combo edge helps, but I did have a quick hit of nostalgia, thinking of how my grandpa used to open letters with a pen knife no bigger than the plain edge of the Skeletool I was using.

Day 7:  Just a pic today, this time with my Wichard sailor's knife.

Nice! I'm probably going to buy one by the challenge's end. I have the bulky second-gen Wichard "rigger" with the sheepsfoot blade (as well as shackle key/bottle opener), and have not been impressed by its construction or steel (316L). The 12C27 and later N680 are both major upgrades. In addition, the new one is one-hand opening, locking, and the shackle key/bottle opener has a marlinspike built into it.

I found a used one for $20, and am thinking about springing for it. The steel isn't specified on most sold through online retailers, but 12C27 I've had plenty of experience with it, and it works well.

 Day 7:

After cutting down some boxes, I always find the gummy glue residue from packing tape smeared down the length of my blade. A quick wipe with some isopropyl alcohol made short work of the goo! What do you all use for goo removal?

And also - damage report! When I was working on my screen door project on the weekend I dropped my soldier off of my ladder (6ft). Didn’t think anything of it until today when I saw one of my liners was bent! The can opener couldn’t even open! I spent a bit of time bending the liner back into place but it still looks a bit off. I guess with the dual density scales, the edges are more flexible and could lead to liner damage!

oh no!  well if the liner does get back to normal, you can use the warranty, and they'll sort it out.

When I need to get rid of tape goo, I think my go to has been WD-40....  or maybe its isopropyl alcohol,      I awlways use the awl to cut through tape, so I almost never had to worry about tape goo.  Except for my Victorinox Bantam, which has seen more tape goo than all my blades combined  it's just been in the right place at the wrong time.

This is mine, opened up.  I think that bottle opener is a pretty cool idea!  I like the steel too.  It holds an edge and is easy to sharpen.

Day 8: Opening a face mask bag for my CPAP machine.  The serrated edge works, but it tends to tear as oppose to cut in this case.

It depends on the goo... for the normal goo from opening packages, I like using Tuf Glide.  Not only does it remove the goo, it also protects the blade from corrosion.  Note, I never use my multitools on food, so I don't mind that it isn't food safe.

:iagree: I'm actually more of a Swisschamp guy myself, but it's hard to beat an in line chisel.  I've actually used it several times over the years.

Day 9

Near the end of the last challenge, I took a good bite out of my finger and posted some pics of the stitches. Today, I got them out, and the PA put some surgical glue over it.

Seems to be healing well. I have full range of motion, although the tip still has a little swelling and a slightly tingly feeling sometimes.

Thanks! Today have totally drained me but I think I have turned it around and solved most problems!

The patches are from one of Sweden best live bands, I have seen a lot of bands but the baboonshow are something special

OK, today I took down a lot of big cardboard boxes and guess what ? The SE worked really great !
I'm starting to understand some of the love.
I still prefer a PE but at least I'm more open now.
