Winter Holiday Cheer!
on: December 04, 2022, 03:24:08 AM
I thought it would be nice to start a holiday thread for folks putting up lights or decorations, indulging in some eggnog, or other activities…with your SAK or multitool.

I had the idea while sorting through working and non working Xmas lights. Every year I consider fixing the ones that only half light, but when replacing the bulb doesn’t work I always give up. My Spirit X would surely fit the bill should I ever give it a shot.

There is some eggnog in my fridge, but I have no doubt that it's meant for Christmas. I'll post eggnog photos later this month.

Thanks G_B  :hatsoff: yes, we got stuff up early  the reasoning is that it takes so much to put everything up that it needs to be up early enough that it can be enjoyed for more than a few weeks :D

We've always put up our tree between thanksgiving and the first of December; leaving it up until the first week in January.  (Keeping the Christmas spirit into the new year.)
Last couple of years, due to physical limitations, we've had to pare down our decorations.

Here's the annual proffering from the house of Surge* (I carry the Christmas tree, she decorates it  :pok: :twak:)

As an aside (from a UK perspective) we call it Christmas! Why do some across the pond call it Winter holidays  :dunno:

Either way, excellent pics so far and Happy whatever makes you happy  :2tu:

Excellent pictures everyone!

We’ve finally brought home a Christmas tree.

Had to trim a few branches to fit it in the stand.

It’s not fully decorated though as our kids get to “decorate” it first. I get to hang the first ornament.

At least the lights are on!

Sadly, the reason seems to be the desire to simply remove Christ from Christmas.

I really enjoy the pics, so far.
As I can't do it like we once did, this brings me happiness.
Driving the neighborhoods, during Christmas time, looking at all the lights, also helps me cope with my mild SAD.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the pics, PitCarver! We take the kids around to look at lights and I agree it’s a good pick me up for the early darkness. I’m up in dark and home at dark everyday during winter.

Exactly, Steve. Secular or sacred winter celebrations welcome here.

Excellent, Surge. The best of all cocktails.  What’s your whiskey of choice?

Thanking you  :hatsoff: (it's one of my favourite cocktails  ;))

I like so many whiskies so it's difficult to be prescriptive. I prefer single malts (unless in a cocktail that is) and one of my favourites is Penderyn, I currently have a bottle of "Celt" which was a gift from GF, who despite being Welsh, is a gentleman and a scholar  :drink: This accompanied me on the annual Remembrance Day parade at Whitehall this year.

https://www.penderyn.wales/

Other than the usual malts I'm open to persaussion regarding bourbons as we don't have a great selection here in the UK (apart from the ubiquitous JD and Jim Beam etc) Any suggestions....
