Custom SAK - the beginning of a journey :)
on: December 17, 2022, 07:32:39 PM
Hello dear brothers,

I am new here on forums but some of you might know me from the knifemaking boards. I am a full time knifemaker but lately i had the chance to put my hands on a CNC - now what could a knifemaker do with a CNC - knives of course :D
So, an old dream came true and now i have the opportunity to create in the field of SAK's a knife that i enjoy, wear and use for many years now.

Although this is not the first one i made this is the first one that i can consider flawless. Hopefully you will enjoy this journey with me and your input is very valuable ;)

Tinker - black linen micarta, 3k carbon fiber inlay. The scales are CNC machined and finished by hand; they are press fitted (no glue, not necessary)

All and only the best, God bless,
Bogdan

Very nice! A few friends and I are looking into making custom SAK's/scales. One just purchased a CNC, and since I'm the most computer literate (mostly in graphic design) of course I'm the tasked with learning the software. Out of curiosity, did you create your own cut file or was it one you found online? I'm partial to micarta, going to attempt to make some ourselves, and the other are looking at copper/brass with the accessory slots. Just started some online courses on Fusion 360.
