Minichamp to Classic
on: December 22, 2022, 06:29:28 AM
A Minichamp with a broken spring was included with another knife I bought ages ago, so I figured I'd see if I could salvage it. I don't have the right pin stock for it, so I knew I'd need to make it thinner. Fortunately I had the right size drill bit on hand.

The simplest route was just to remove two narrow tool layers.

I chewed up one of the bushings, but with the scales over it, no one's the wiser.  ;)

The scales went back on nicely, though I probably should have taken out the middle liner and reused the outer one I removed. Since the toothpick's on that side, I got away with it without any gaps.

I was tempted to keep the Wharncliffe blade, but it's noticeably shorter than the drop point, which would look like a kludge next to the nail file.

Thanks! I don't plan to carry it, but it was good practice and now the knife's usable.

I don't have the right pin stock or any extra bushings, but the pile of parts has spurred my imagination . . .  ::)
