L.E. 2023 (Rumour Control)
on: December 30, 2022, 04:28:29 PM
Greetings awl  :salute:

I found this on the "Victorinox Alox" group on FB posted by somebody called "RicardroyRosy Dieck"  Described as "Alox Yellow Lime"

Not sure how true it is and I can't seem to verify it anywhere. However, if it is genuine then I shall be a great deal poorer in 2023

Anyone heard or seen similar  :dunno:

This is the first I've heard of it. They sure look good in that photo...but I wish Victorinox would return Pioneers and Cadets to this line

I shall be $(the selling price of the Pioneer X) lighter in the wallet if that is true. I have an affinity for lime colored items.

Electric Yellow or Green Apple are terms I’ve seen floating around. Looks great!  But I sure don’t need another Hunter Pro!  I’ll get one, simply because I hate incomplete sets.

I kinda like the color.  A little greener would have be nicer, but I think I will probably still purchase a Pioneer X if true.

On the one hand, it's hideous!

On the other, I do like bright knives. Harder to lose and easier to grab in the dark.

And on the other hand, it hurts my eyes to look at it, so I won't be competing with you gents to buy one.  :tu:

Love this color!  I'll do my usual thing and buy two PX's.  I also miss the Pioneer and Cadet from the LE line...

Like Adam, I have a fondness for lime green. If the 2023 limited models will be lime green, I'll give some thought to picking up a Pioneer X...or three.

Looks to be a pretty genuine photo - Vic style - But I guess photoshop etc can do anything!!

I quite like the colour - But not for me .... too much money and not really collecting anymore :(

It's surprising that the Classics stay in this set - Given awl the new Classics last year:  Classic Colours; Precious Alox etc etc
They should make the Annual Alox 58mm the Rambler!! I would buy one of those!!

Too right H, I’ve ranted about this before
Happy new year mate

It’s not a fave colour but I like it, quite different from any of the other yearly LE’s which I reckon’s a good thing

Photoshop, and a poor effort. Even made the rivets of the 58mm yellow.

Looks good to me, but I’ll reserve final judgement until I can see this color in-person.

And once I do decide whether or not I like it, I’ll immediately buy a Pioneer X.  Regardless.  ;)

I think I need to see one of these against a background that is NOT the same basic color as the alox scales themselves to know whether or not I would like to own one in this... shade.  :dunno:

I like the idea of a lively colour after last year's subdued hue. Vic should make a habit of alternating the yearly LE's in this way.

Stopped in at Casco Bay Cutlery (the VSAKCS guys) yesterday. "Citrus" LE confirmed (although he did say many of the pics going around online are fakes). He also said that he saw a prototype of the package opener, but didn't have all the details regarding how it'd replace and/or coexist with the can opener.

I know it's not official from Vic, but they've always been correct when I asked them about rumors before.

I will be passing on 2023 but hopefully 2024 won't be some terrible color. Ready to see the 93mm Voyageur go into production like the Pioneer X did years ago. It's an easy make for Victorinox. A 84mm version not so much

Pardon my ignorance but what is a Voyageur?

Voyageur is an Alox 84mm with spear point blade, cap lifter screw driver or the combo cap lifter and scissors. 93mm version would be very simple for Victorinox to make. They did finally come out with the Pioneer X and a large Voyager would be nice. $35-ish dollar price point would be about right

That would be great of them, and as easy as it would be  I doubt it will happen.  I have been thinking of maybe doing a mod and removing the opener layer from a PioneerX.

I'm on the fence about this one. On the one hand, I like the color. But on the other hand, it won't be on a model that has massive appeal to me. It would be a definite yes if they'd go back to the Cadet and/or the Pioneer.

That would be around half the MSRP on a Pioneer, for a knife that's probably more expensive to produce. They'd go used for more than that.

Myron those are great, which one gets the most carry time?
I have always been curious how the spacing and fit worked on the originals with the cap lifter in place of the combo tool. Any pictures from above?

Pioneers can be bought new for less than $50 and a 93mm Voyageur at $35 to $40 would be about the right price. I'll take one at $37.99 on Amazon.
