A LM Minitool inspired by Sam Lim
on:
February 15, 2023, 09:55:47 PM
Hello again,
Some context:
I was scrolling around the forum and I stumble upon Sam Lim's version of the Minitool. He made it with a broken Wave he had lying around and when I showed it to my wife, she felt in love with it, so I knew I had to make one for her. I didn't have a broken Wave myself but I had a lot of Chinese multitools leftovers from previous projects so I knew it was feasible, plus it was cheaper to do (win win
).
(I'm not very familiar with forums and their mechanics so if anyone can tag Sam I'll be very thankful, + I can't find the post anymore so if someone has it in his bookmark you can put it here too)
The name: the Cicada
The tool:
the handle/pliers head/ the 2 blades: Bibury 18 in 1
https://www.amazon.fr/Multifonctions-Multitools-Inoxydable-Multifonction-R%C3%A9paration/dp/B095LVRVMZ?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
scissors: Bibury 10 in 1
https://www.amazon.fr/Bibury-multifonction-porte-cl%C3%A9s-coupe-corde-verrouillage/dp/B082HMYL26/ref=sr_1_19?__mk_fr_FR=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=MSM6EU1MKC5O&keywords=bibury&qid=1676493207&sprefix=bibury+%2Caps%2C82&sr=8-19
Bit driver: Gerber Armbar slim
https://www.amazon.fr/Gerber-Armbar-Drive-Onyx-Multifonctions-Taille/dp/B07VZFDBQG/ref=sr_1_2?__mk_fr_FR=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&crid=1NTCRATICKNSD&keywords=armbar+slim&qid=1676493261&sprefix=armbar+slim%2Caps%2C87&sr=8-2
(It was the 1st one I used on my Wave mod but I grinded it way too much so it was unusable
)
The rest is just a matter of cutting, grinding, fitting, grinding again and manualy polishing it with sandpaper. The most difficult part was to transform the serrated blade into a package opener while maintaining a good symmetry between the 2 blades.
I hope you'll like it, I know my wife does

I can see why the Mrs likes it so much.
