Always being a bit of an EDC nut I’ve collected quite a few OPT’s over the years and have carried pretty well all of them at one time or another

I eventually came to the conclusion that a SAK Rambler or Manager was the best solution for me so rarely carry them now but my two faves are the tiny Swisstech key (which I do still keep in my wallet) and the NiteIze doohickey which I sometimes add to my keychain. The black CRKT I like a lot too

Took these pics when I went for my badge a few years back

I've put my house keys on my Griffin to see if a need arises

Well, if nothing else, you could use the Griffin to suspend your keys from a belt loop or the edge of a pocket.

Here is one of my favorite OPTs, TTPocketTools Chopper.  Unfortunately, it is no longer made.  Not really visible is the sharpened edge on the pry that is great for opening boxes.  The ridged curve is meant for a twist assist for opening bottles and the inside portion of the bottle opener is 1/4 bit holder/driver.

The edges and corners are too rounded, which probably makes it more carryable but hampers its effectiveness. IMO, a few tweaks with a Dremel would do wonders for the tool.

Yes, I did that on mine  :salute:

Here's my small collection  :-[

I don't dislike them but to be honest I've not really had the call to use them  :dunno:

This is mostly because;

1) At work I can only carry issued kit and carrying any "non-issued" tool* through airport security is fraught with danger, i.e. loss of said tool, or potentially, loss of my airside pass

*(notwithstanding I carry a Leatherman/Lockknife/Baton/'cuffs/limb restraints and lock jigglers as standard)

2) On my days off I usually have a SAK/MT (non-locking of course, being UK based  ::)) so again, no real need

However, I'm off injured for the next 7 - 10 days so, I've put my house keys on my Griffin to see if a need arises

Stay safe awl  :salute:

Thanks for sharing your tools with us, Surge   :like:
Hope you are as good as new in a week or so  :tu:

Keyport MOCA Tool

Nice little tool. It probably works best in the handle Keyport sells, but I think it is useful by itself.

Fast recovery SurgeUK.

Nice additions from echotech and Sos.  I missed that TTchopper at the time I bought mine.  There were a few that were already discontinued at the time I found out about TTchopper.

That Keyport looks like a good OPT.

Nite Ize DoohicKey Ratchet

The ball detent on the bits helps improve on a problem that I have with other OPTs with bits, which is keeping the bit engaged with the OPT while turning a screw. This isn't perfect, but it does help.

I looked at this one a couple of times. Thanks for testing it.  :hatsoff:

It looks like it's made of rather soft metal. And replacement bits are not easy to get either

I believe you are right about the metal. This morning is the first time I have used it, and there were scratches on the straight driver after testing it with a screw.

As for the bits, I don't know how easy they are for you to get, but Dewalt and Klein sell dual bits with ball detent

In this pic you will see a key OPT made by MinuteKey:

I bought it on a whim one day at my local Lowe's.

Here is another Nite Ize Doohickey that you may find hanging around at a hardware store or auto parts store:

Again, it is a lightweight tool that could come in handy at some point.

These little tools IMO are worth their weight.  Having seen a massive amount of knives at the flea market with broken tips or completely snapped off blades which could have been avoided with a OPT.

I rarely open bottles and most who do can usually open them with most anything so the bottle open feature is meh.  The scrapping, prying, turning of screws, and anything else a knife blade is not meant for is is why I love these little tools.
