Still be great to have you join HXJG. As there’s enough of us I’ll be working on designing a badge for this challenge, don’t get more exclusive than a new badge :pok: :D

Fair enough.

Guess you all will just have to reschedule.

Is there somewhere when did they stop producing Passenger, by looking stamp and bottle opener it should predate before 85 since my Passenger doesnt have 90 degree lock and it had small letters on tang stamp.

Also im curious to know is there way to date 108mm series, especially GAK, i know they were produced 1976-1997 but there not seems to find much dating unfo on those.

Re the GAK, there's some dating info in this thread

https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,26444.msg480181.html#msg480181

And the WIKI says "According to Victorinox, the GAK (0.8770.04) was only made by Victorinox from 1976 to 1986"

https://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=GAK

So good for the challenge I think

I think my little joke above about moving the challenge to June to accommodate HXJG doing his 60 day stack challenge may be a bit confusing...so to confirm, the challenge is definitely May

Really looking forward to seeing those vintage SAKs

I recently realized that my 1st SAK climber probably counts, so I’m in.  I think I may also have an Explorer that also counts.  Wait does that mean I’m old or just started liking knives early.

:woohoo:   :woohoo:

Not long now folks, I’m excited :D

I’m currently doing a quick “stocktake” and hoping to show you 30 vintage SAKs in 30 days….may be a few short, we’ll see

Last night I purchased one of my absolute holy grail SAKs which unfortunately just falls out of our time range being from 1987 but think you’ll all be keen to see it….will say no more, but needless to say I’m very excited ;)

Unfortunately on the 12th I go into hospital for back surgery, the upside (apart from hopefully being in a lot less pain) is I have a two week recovery period off work when I intend to start looking at designing the badge for this challenge.

I’ve a few ideas and after designing the Delemont and Minichamp challenge badges have some experience of what’s required. However my art skills are pretty basic so Jay (Explorer) has very kindly offered to help :hatsoff:

Early taster before we start tomorrow

Bit of a cheat as I don’t know for sure it’s pre 86 but as Vic stopped assembling them then I’ll go with it (plus strictly speaking it’s a GAK rather than a SAK)….and any excuse to show a pic with a red triangle slug :D

Yikes - good luck for the surgery on the 12th, Echotech!  Those slugs always look to me as they belong in the sea not on the land!

Thanks Rizio :tu:
Yeah I agree :iagree: I used to scuba dive a lot and they remind me of the nudibranchs we’d see
