What makes the Suspension NXT so much less expensive?

I just purchased a Suspension NXT and was wondering why it's so much less expensive than the center-drive? Is it purely the cost of material, made overseas? Inquiring minds want to know.

I have no clue,  Jeff.
I picked up one back when they were about $20.00 at the Home Depot.  I will note that they're almost twice that now.

The NXT is made in China.

Also, the changeable carbide cutters.

Although they might appear similar, they're quite different; Centerdrive is an OTF design, with a OHO blade, centered, OHO bit driver, sprung pliers with replaceable cutters, a pry bar, and saw. The file and the serrated blade are from the MP series.The NXT has a butterfly design with non replacable cutters and non sprung pliers head, THO blade, fixed drivers, no saw, smaller file and a pocket clip. It seems that quality and finish is somewhat better in the Centerdrive series. Both are made in China.
