Electrician scissors
on: December 29, 2024, 09:29:28 PM
I have used these Wiss shears umptiddly dozen times through some long weary years.  There used to be an electric cord factory in town, and there were lots of these floating around the flea markets, etc.  I'm not too sure where these came from exactly.  Best wishes.  G

I want to say I had some Wiss aviation snips at some time, or at least used a set that belonged to an employer or school. Those electrician's scissors are solidly made and should last a good long time! :tu:

I have a pair of German made electrician snips, don't remember the brand, that I usually carry in the pouch behind my SuperTool 300 to make up for the lack of scissors in that tool. Very handy at times.

Those Wiss scissors look very similar to my pair of Kleins. Their size makes them super handy. I think they are still made in the U.S.A.

I have some more types.  Here are the Wiss electrician scissors.  Different types.  1974 catalog.  I think US Boker was owned by Wiss.  Bought out by Cooper Group.  Best wishes.  G

I couldn't remember what I had, so I dug them up to have a look.  They are, in fact, Wiss 175E scissors. They don't say USA as IMR's do.  These say Wiss 175E VF.  I don't know what the VF stands for.  Anybody else have a clue?

I saw 175E 5V scissors for sale.  Supposedly one blade is serrated.  Does that sound like yours?  Best wishes.  G

The blade with the notches is serrated just enough to bite into whatever you're cutting to keep it from slipping out.  It definitely says VF though and not 5V.

I like the serrations.  VF might just be an older designation?  It looks like the WISS markings are laser etched or something instead of stamped.  The serrations would definitely make cutting some things easier.  Things wouldn't slide out of the blades nearly as easy.  Best wishes.  G

Absolutely love my Klein scissors.  Perfect for those tougher jobs.
