This is my Custom Victorinox 111mm Trailmaster / Workchamp hybrid, all inner aluminum liners were removed and the brass pins have been replaced with hardened stainless steel bolts.
The outer aluminum liners were replaced with titanium and modified ebony wood scales were fitted. (Sill have some work to do on the right scale, not yet installed)
The large screwdriver under the pliers was cut halfway and a scalpel knife was welded on.
This multitool has been made UK legal, the locking tab for the main blade was bent the opposite way so now it locks the can opener instead.

I'm extremely happy with the outcome, all the tools open a close smoothly and don't catch on each other.
Its thinner than the Workchamp due to the removal of the three spacers and IMO looks amazing with the polished tools fitting perfectly side by side.

The cons:
You have to partially lift the main blade or pliers to be able to lift the scissors, perhaps not ideal if you need to cut the blue wire with only four seconds left on the timer.
Some of the tools have scratches from brushing past another.

Update:
Scissors relocated to opposite side and can now be opened without first lifting the main blade.
Right scale installed but still needs a slot cut for the toothpick, also waiting for some decorative SS nuts.

Slot and channel for a Firefly was cut, I made sure to get the right tension so it doesn't fall out.
Hole drilled for a pin under the screwdriver.

Decorative nuts installed, they are actually stainless steel self-clinching nut inserts:

I was thinking of incorporating a pen but I might just leave it at that.

I pressed the Victorinox emblem into the ebony scale slightly with a vice then filled the inner area with super glue, I used the ultra thin kind so it seeped in to the crevasses and dried level, I then sanded it flush with the stainless steel emblem and rounded off the edges with 3000 grit finished with a polish.

  • Yoo-hoo, big summer blowout!
Very nice mod, looks very clean and shiny indeed.
Interesting that you removed some liners due to making the remaining liners and pivots stronger, I'd like to hear how hear how that holds up in the long term. :tu:
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

Thanks Don Pablo,
The central pivot has the most stress so I used hardened steel instead of stainless for that one.
It seems to be perfect so far, there is very little side wobble from the main blade and all tools have strong spring force.
I've used it a few times now and it feels solid, if I find any issues I will post an update.

Wow! :like: That is amazing stuff. Do you use a machine like a mill or do that work by hand?

Thanks Don Pablo and Enginears for the kind messages.
I replaced the toothpick with a Firestick, it has a flat end which was perfect for actuating the side tactile push button switch.
I added a leaf spring that keeps a controlled amount on tension on the firestick, it is just loose enough to allow the switch to reset but keeps the firestick secure.
For this mod I mainly used a handheld router with a small carbide bit, a Dremel and bench grinder.

Ah, I see... Not tweezers, but firestick.
Even cooler. :like:
Great touch with the little leaf spring tensioner.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

Thanks again :tu:
There are two issues with this mod, the first is how to replace the battery.
My initial idea was to use a weaker glue so the scale could be pried off much like the back glass on a phone however I have decided on an array of small n50 neodymium magnets perhaps 10 -15 drilled into the ebony scale flush, the titanium alloy liner is magnetic luckily. I believe this will have enough force to keep the scale secure.
The second issue may be battery life, I have no idea how long the led will last with this button cell, I predict 5-10min continuous, just a guess.

I fabricated this clip using Victorinox stainless steel from a spare locking liner, the clip is welded to the nut insert.
A small pin was welded off-center to the back of the nut which locates into a hole that was drilled in the titanium liner, this prevents the clip from spinning but allows it to slide in and out when tightening or removing.
No modification was made to the ebony scale so it can be reverted back to the decorative nut which made this mod quite a challenge.
