Hello and welcome !

Where are you located ?   If you have a Harbor Freight or Menards locally I would go with one of there off brand Mufti tools. Don't bother with cordless for what you need it for.

I have this one and it works just fine for how often I need it.

I bought a Makita 18 volt multi-tool less than a year ago and after about 10 months of very light use the battery just suddenly stopped working so I'd avoid Makita but YMMV

Wish you luck on your home project and welcome to

Welcome to the forum, alanp

Explorer, that sounds like Makita alright. Our company switched to Milwaukee since almost all our batteries stopped working. These are the best multi cutters I've ever used, but they sure are pricey. Like Steve said, off brand corded are probably more than enough. Good luck :tu:

I have cordless Bosch Professional Multi Cutter at work, all cordless one are handy but downside on battery version are thise are heavier than regular versions, i recommend to look Multitool/MultiCutter with cord, if your planning only use that at home.
Usually cord versions are bit cheaper than battery version and i would dare say even better than battery even when cord sometimes get in way.
