It's one of my favorites too Echotech.  It's my hiking knife, kept in the zipper pouch of my Camelback.  I've also used it in the kitchen and just for a carry knife.  It was designed for the French Mountain Guide School, and it definitely is a cutter!

Opinel '24 Day 23
Nate and Barry have both suggested that Opinels are good cigar cutters so I had to find out for myself.  Turns out they were correct.

DAY 23

Prep day (after morning ballet of course), for my 7 year olds birthday party tomorrow...the No8 with help from my quite unusual Laguiole frog knife...it has a ball slip lock.

So between them both, I have been preparing party food, no food processor so the sausage rolls are slow progress

Homemade Sausage

Day 23: Cutting some delicious chocolate chip bread with the Mighty No. 12
 that looks tasty

Day 23
Helped my parents in garden today. Used my no.9 to cut some roots…
(Image removed from quote.)
Looks like some good cutting work

What a great looking bottle, bet the contents is pretty good too! :like:
Thanks and the content is very tasty.  The “Aged at Sea” is because they put the whiskey barrels on the deck of ships to age it.  Because of this each “Voyage” tastes different.

DAY 24

Well the birthday party is done, and the children are full of nice wholesome homemade food.

Now for a brief me time, crop walking the wheat fields and checking for diseases and micro and macro nutrient needs with the opinel No8

My crop on the right, the failed nextdoor farmers field on the left....they got the timing wrong, and in disappointment sprayed it off to try a spring crop.

Beautiful crop farmer. I see the crops killed off mid season here sometimes, mostly corn. Is it common for farmers to mistime things and opt to kill the crop early?

No it's not common at all. The only time I have seen  it killed off this early, is when there is a change of tenant/landowner....even then it's a strange practice to do, as it's similar to burning cash.

I would have over seeded with rye, and then do a animal feed cut/mixed seed harvest...?

Some people are idiots too, so who knows  :dunno:

My main job now...the one that pays the bills is hydrogeology/hydro chemistry..... basically I keep raw water safe for about 1/5 of the UK.....not surprisingly farmers are on my hit list most days, the funny thing is that they say I don't understand farming....I farm (and have been for 35 years), and come from a farming family that has been farming since 1716.....they get a bit upset when the penny drops and they realise I know my stuff.

DAY 25...... Birthday Day...

So my wonderful wifey has bought me the Opinel Garden knife and the picnic set (without the knife, as wanted to use the No8 garden knife) for my birthday..... unfortunately found out that the garden knife doesn't fit the picnic fork and spoon....and the other opinels are far to old....*sob*
