Good in Theory, Not in Practice
on: May 06, 2023, 11:41:22 PM
I had an idea to make a titanium chainmail fob for my titanium Voyageur mod that recently arrived.  Thin JPL3 weave directly to the split ring attachment, then a larger Persian weave with 1/2 uncolored and 1/2 purple anodized.

Turned out nice, and I thought it looked pretty good!  Unfortunately, when using the knife, the fob was very awkward dangling below the hand.   :(. Oh, well...  Back to the purple paracord fob.

It sure does look cool! Hopefully you'll find a better use for it.

Interesting experiment, and it certainly looks good even if it didn’t work out quite as expected. I’m sure you’ll find another use for it though!

What an interesting idea.  Do you have a machine that makes the links?

Thanks. It was fun to try, even if it didn't work out in the end.

No machine.  Recently got into messing around with making chainmail bracelets and such.  Purchased the rings, and then weave them together with two pairs of pliers.  A good show on the TV helps as well, as long as you don't get too distracted and mess up the pattern :)

Why not have a piece of chain mail in the end of the paracord?

It surly looks cool though.

Ditch the JPL and just have the Persian, or maybe a half-Persian 3-in-1 as it's similar to a snake keychain.
Maybe try some smaller rings?
