*Day 2*

No use today, but Spirit MXBS has been riding along in my sling the whole day.

How're people liking the OHO now that we've had some time with it? I know it got a lot of poor impressions when it first came out. That's part of the reason I tried to lock down a XC before they all disappeared/got stupid expensive.
I haven't really followed the comments on the Spirit OHO tab, but why would anyone have a poor impression on that?  Yes, there will be trade off--which in some way reduce the 'effective' cutting edge of the knife, but on the other hand, we gain the OHO function and it is so easy to operate even with gloves.

I've never had and issue with opening the non-OHO blades either, but if a blade on a plier-based MT is not OHO, for my uses it is always a secondary blade to others I'm carrying.  The clip + OHO changes that by greatly increasing the convenience of blade access so that with the tool clipped to my dominant-side (right) front pocket, it becomes my main blade, with a secondary riding in the bottom of my left pocket.  I don't care one bit that the blade is 3mm shorter than the non-OHO blades, because my secondary blade provides a larger one if needed.  With the design of the OHO blade, requiring it to be on the opposite side of the handle for right-handed OHO, it was required to shorten it due to the plier head subframe being slightly longer on that side.  The tab does indeed reduce cut capacity for slicing, but, again, I have a backup for that for items larger than what the Spirit blade will handle.

For my own use, the only thing I do miss a little on a Spirit is the OHO blade from the LM camp, and the MX or MXBS is the final piece of puzzle to me.  Being a SAK enthusiast, I too have no problem with the nail nick for the regular Spirit, but with the OHO blade, it does diminish my desire to carry a standalone folding knife.  And when I do, it is mainly just for fun.

Day 2

Rebuilding a LEGO kit, and adding a binding agent to hold the base trunk together when change foliage options.

The Spirit’s CHISEL TOOL, works very well at separating bricks and the edge cut for smallest of parts.

I feel like there were a lot of complaints about it not working that well, and being a big pocket snag. Like anything else, it's probably 3 or 4 people loudly complaining for every 100 people getting along just fine and not saying anything.

Mine has never snagged.  However, I have the clip mounted on the opposite side of the tool than how Victorinox had it.  I honestly don't understand why they have it the way they do...  Once you switch the clip to the other side as I did, it operates just like any other OHO tip-up knife.

I know I am not well versed on the Victorinox models, yet I am curious about the OHO model being discussed.

As well as the pocket clip(?)…

Is there other models of OHO? I have searched and only located the XSBS, in a black finish. Are any done is the stainless and what is the model description code?

And, part number for a pocket clip.

Thank you

The MX model is the stainless tool with the OHO blade.  It has the same tool selection as the X model.  There is an MX Clip model as well with OHO blade and pocket clip.

Stainless clip:     3.0240.B1

Black Oxide clip: 3.0240.3B1

There are several pictures in this thread of the clip and the OHO blade.

An L. Shield Skinth should work well, and allow better access for gloves.  The loadout below is Spirit plus L-wrench but I think it would work fine for the ratchet as well.  Another option would be to buy a clip for the Spirit so it is easy to access from your pocket and find a small pouch just for the ratchet and bits.

(Image removed from quote.)
i have thinking to get that L-shield but it seems bit overkill just for my Bitset & Wrench since i mostly carry my all multitools on that Gerber sheat since it has best vertical carry i have ever tried, all other sheat comes too high to be comfortable to use. So far only gerber pouch is just gine to use. Tho i could just put that L-shield in my pocket but it really beat purpose of that sheat.

My apologies, I thought you were asking for a pouch that carried the Spirit with the wrench and bits.  I agree that a Skinth shield would be overkill for just the wrench and bits, but you might possibly like something in the Pocket series (M7, B5, P1, P2, P3, etc.).

Thank you NutSak. I had not planned to acquire any new items during or because this challenge,  but the OHO option and clip seems worth the investigation.
Just could not find the pocket clip listed anywheres I searched.
I did o serve the MX on Vic’s web but no mention of OHO

I knew I would a clearer answer if I applied a question. Thanks again! 👍

M7 seems to be right one to get for Bitset & Wrench, looks perfect size for purpose.

I'm not sure the pockets are deep enough.  I have an M7 at home.  I will try it out with my wrench and bits kit and let you know!

Used the scissors and the file today to trim nails. Saved you all the "use" pictures, but they worked perfectly!

Day 01
My lack of securing (procrastination) a Spirit before the start date of October 1st is my fault. I'm gonna soldier on past 60 days carrying it as I said I would when I signed up. This will be just for fun and full up Wave Plus comparisons as it is my usual carry.

My Spirit got here this morning and I've been fiddling with it. See Day two post .  :woohoo: :mail: :mail:

DAY TWO
It has arrived .

I do like the OH blades. The scissors are sharp and are Vic quality, The MXBS is very solid yet small package. You can open one blade right handed but the hook blade has to be opened left handed.  ::)

Sheath is nylon garbage, I will be using my Charge premium sheath or my bench craft leather sheath for carry. The leather Spirit sheath is also a better option.

Day 2

It cooled off but now we’re in a warm spell. That always means ants inside, so setup the last ant stakes of the season.

While outside I removed a busted hand rail to some old stairs with the pliers. Had to saw into the wood a bit to split it to keep from damaging the already messed up siding.

Day 2
Was going through some outdoor cook stuff.  The Spirit helped with cutting up some stuff.  Then decided to make some coffee using one of my favorite micro set-ups.  Used the pliers instead of the pot lifter/handle and to lift the hot stand for putting out the alcohol burner.

Day 2

I have a pedalcizer at work. For some reason, the pedals have these little straps that don't fit adult feet and mostly just get in the way. Phillips and butter blade removed them. For comparison, I tried one of the screws with the MP600 I keep at work. The longer reach on the Spirit driver was much easier (although the Phillips is kind of a pain to deploy. Might just need broken in?). The butter blade went through the rubber like... butter. I was really impressed by how easily it made it through.

The butter blade is nice, it is a shame they discontinued that version of the Spirit

Really nice pics and uses for day 2. Agree on the butter blade being discontinued. Victorinox makes really nice serrated blades. I wish they were available on more tools.
