Unusual Wenger

In one older thread I found these picture of a Wenger knife, with length of 105-6 mm.  I have not seen anything like that before, even Sakwiki(!) does not have any info (I wonder what people did in the darkness before Sakwiki…)

Does anyone has any info about this line? Was it a regular production line? Or is it just some kind of prototype? Thanks a lot!

Interesting.

My first thought when I see a SAK of relatively recent manufacture that doesn’t fit any of the established lines is “Counterfeit!”, but that may or may not be accurate.

I was going to ask for pics of tang stamps, with the tools open, etc., but then realized you only have the pic, not the actual knife.

    I don't know what it is.  With that said, if you notice the jaws of the caliper are resting against the internals of the knife rather than the scales.  That will give a smaller measure than usual.  It looks like a 12cm Ranger a lot.  Wenger did make some 12cm with a hole for screwdriver bits.
    Ranger scales are more of a brick red, angular scale than this one.  It looks like this one has the lock release built into the emblem.
    The corkscrew looks wonky.  It seems huge for a 12cm frame knife.  The pivot comes halfway up the scale.  They are usually much shorter.  The corkscrew seems really thick as well.  The WENGER letters cast into the scale are upside down like a Ranger.  They faced the other way for an 85mm Evo or EvoGrip.  So did the letters on the flat grips for that matter.   That semi-circular thing on the back side is unfamiliar.  You can see it near the WENGER lettering.  I like the looks of the knife.  Best wishes.  Gary

It was identified as a Wenger Switch2 by member Syem.  Prototype.  One of 50 from 2013.  Hobo knife.  ID was earlier in that thread.  Best wishes.  G
