X-Tract Intoduction Video
on: February 02, 2009, 04:05:15 PM
Hey all, since a few guys liked how I showed the one handed functions of the X-Tract out I figured it would be good to introduce folks to the whole line of those tools and tell them about them. I am not a video guy and I don't do well talking on film (don't know what to say and stuff). I put a video up on youtube and wanted to see what people think. Didn't realize the lighting was as bad as it was and I didn't feeling like redoing it all again. Maybe I will redo it at a later date when I have time. Let me know what you think.

After watching David's fantastic review, I just had to go out and get an X-Tract. I'm really happy with it for the $$$. I paid $40 for it as I didn't want to wait for a better deal. The design is just fantastic, but the fit and finish is not up to Buck's standards. For a multi in this price range, I would say its a winner!  :tu:  I'll edc it for a week and see how it goes.

Here is the one I bought:

730 X-Tract

Well you put whatever you want to cut between the blade sand press the handles....oh, sorry.

I've just seen the price of these things, and I've decided to wait for a used one to crop up.

Glad you like the video guys, I seem to be getting a huge response from you folks. The scissors work pretty well, small stuff it handles well but when I tried it on some heavy duty plastic straps holding a box shut it had a hard time. I quit when it was half way through and used the blade. This is a preliminary opinion but maybe the longer blades to the scissors and the smaller handle you press with your thumb is not so good an idea. You cannot exert as much pressure as you can with a longer lever like in the original Wave for instance. The scissors can probably take the stress and come back fine but it took quite a bit of oooommf to get the scissors to do what they did and got mixed results. The FIN has fantastic scissors and they are proportionate to the idea I am trying to explain. Maybe the essentials scissors should be more for light duty or something. What do you folks think?

BTW Gadget Guy, congratulations on the purchase. I realize what you mean about Buck Quality. Not too bad considering they are outsourcing to Taiwan in my opinion though. I do have alot of rub marks on my pliers from where they retract into and especially on the scissors for the Essential.

David, I like the X-Tract much better now that I've got to use it for a couple of days. The fit and finish isn't too bad at all.  :tu:  I'm going to pick up all of the different models, they are very addicting.  :D

Thanks again for the great review!!

Your welcome, glad your liking it. Makes me want to do another review about something else (video of course).  :D Question is, how many people are going to go out and get an X-Tract now since watching the video  :pok:
