Small typo in original post.

“great version” to “grey [coloured scales] version”

And courses, fantastic pictures!

Not sure if it has bearing or not but it is adjustable I believe  also it has a spring but it isn't as bothersome to me as the Sidekick/ Wingman series :woohoo: :like:

I think a lot of people who have the Garage 5 are waiting to see how similar the Arc is before deciding if they’ll use the Garage one or not.
Wouldn’t be surprised if some people sell their anniversary tools and just get an Arc if the tool set is the same.
I guess I’m picking up speed down the slippery slope from user to collector, but if Leatherman had released a production tool with blunt or two-piece jaws soon after Mr Crunch came out, I could have saved myself a lot of money!

Perhaps after a few years have passed and there is no longer competition, a used Vintage Garage#5 might end up on Ebay for $1500.

NOT  my picture, but a Reddit user called Sir_Yuri posted their Garage 5 in the Leatherman Reddit and hadn’t noticed that there was something unusual about it.

I wonder how many more out there are one of one instead of 1 /1983.

Used the knife blade for the first time today.

- Cut a cantaloupe for a snack.

- Then cut a leather bund band that was literally falling apart 4 months of ownership. Rather than take the pins out and risk losing them on the carpet, and as bad as the band was, just cut the watch free of a Vietnam crafted band. Off to find a more rugged wide watchband for a Citizen Brycen Eco-Drive watch for a large wrist.

Ordered a leather sheath from a prominent Ebay vendor. Tried to get them to move the snaps over more, but... ended up having the remove some flap as the leather was too thick to shape over the clip. Fits much better although looks rather dorky. Rather have a better fit than a lost multitool.

This could apply to all of the Free series can openers.

Garage #5 and Arc suck at opening cans easily for a $230+ multitool. I would expect lousy performance from Gerber, which they are worse, save maybe this new light that shone from a P4 Free Can Opener test.

So let's step back here and see if Leatherman claims they intended the look of their can opener to used backwards. Or perhaps someone else found it to be easier. All in all, for Push Type Can Openers that mash down the sharp edges, do not leave metal splinters behind, and frankly Victorinox is the Champion in that type of can opener.

So not, I offer this video I found earlier that may inject the idea that while it looks like it ought to go forwards, maybe that is not the case? I await Leatherman's reply.

Had a leather sheath made by Hidden Leather on Ebay. They did a good job but I think they missed the part on where I wanted the rivets. Since the flap was too thick and did not want to mold over the clip, I just got busy with the Magnablade and Raptor shears to trim off the area around the clip. It fits better, the flap stays closed.

Have been contemplating the Zap Wizard version but am concerned about it coming loose when working as a large fella, or worse ... having it lifted off me either by car seatbelt clasps or people. Does not look like it has that much retention ... thus am still on the fence about it.

For now I have a plain leather sheath.

What would it take to add a wire stripper like the Charge series on the Garage #5? I did use that feature a few times with the Charge TTi. Was good to have the same familiar compliments on the full sized tools.

Also noticed the main blade is a tad loose. Weird that it has flex in it. Anyone know what size of bit is needed to adjust this?
