Picked mine up yesterday My pic's don't do the colours justice. It is a beautiful thing https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,73683.msg2443761.html#msg2443761
Love it!
Thankd for the heads up and links everyoneThe Wiki has been updated - Checkout this link:Christmas Series
Th knife center page is up! Can’t order it yet, shows “discontinued,” but it’ll probably go live Monday. https://www.knifecenter.com/item/VN0260122E1/victorinox-swiss-army-2023-winter-magic-limited-edition-cadet-slipjoint-multi-tool-winter-mountain-alox-handles-33-closed
I think $65 seems a good price - I didn’t mind paying the £5 premium I paid to get mine last week! I’m sure you’ll love the look of this when you see it for real, though it is interesting to note that alox is quite thin and there is a spacer between it and the tools, though I’m sure none of us will be giving this one a “hard supper” as a certain Canadian on YouTube puts it! I’d love to see how they make these alox scales!
Interesting about the spacer. Would you mind taking a pic of that? I know the cadet has had a washer between the scale and the blade since they switched to the thinner blade stock many years ago.
Gustophersmob - Myron had it right, I meant a liner next to the alox - not seen it before in an alox knife either! Hopefully the attached shows it:
Sent the link to my wife for a Christmas present, I'll see what she says. And now that its confirmed the price in the US is $65, what is everyone's thoughts on that price-point? Since its only $20 over the standard cadet's price here and $20 less than the pioneer X winter magic from 3 years ago, I think its a fair asking price.
Thanks for the pic!I confess I don’t see the liner. It looks like regular cadet scales to me (which are thinner than the 93mm alox scales). If it’s the flat edge part, that looks like the normal scale edge, but maybe I’m not seeing it correctly. I do see the washer between the blade and scale which has become normal on the cadets, though I’d prefer the older, thicker blade stock.
Looking closer at it with a magnifier, I think you’re right - it’s a ground edge which I initially thought looked like a liner, the brightness of it fooled me!
