I tried, I really tried to enjoy Lower Decks. It was, in my oh so humble opinion, a piece of crap.
It's available on Paramount +.
I got Paramount + to watch Star Trek, the ones created in the 21st century. I should have saved my money. None of the newer Star Trek series are worth watching.
Discovery is complete and utter crap.
I enjoyed Strange New Worlds.
I really enjoy Lower Decks, mostly because of all the nerdy in jokes. It keeps me of reminds me a bit of the first season of Big Bang Theory that way, but it's cool because they are IN Star Trek while talking about Star Trek.
I like how they keep bringing back obscure characters or other details from the other series- for example, in this season they brought back Nick Locarno.
For those wondering who that is, it is the original Tom Paris from Voyager.
Nick Locarno was a throwaway character in a Wesley Crusher story on Next Generation. He was the leader of the Cadet squadron called Nova and he pushed the other students into performing a manoeuvre that caused the death of one of their classmates, and then he pushed the all to cover it up.
Once the episode was over, the character was done- until Voyager came along and wanted to use that character as a regular member of the cast. Even the same actor would be used, but, since they didn't want to pay the writer royalties on every episode of Voyager. So they used an almost identical backstory and called the character Tom Paris.
This has been a largely forgotten bot of Trek Lore that Lower Decks has brought back successfully.
