I'm enjoying all the photos from today and a BIG thanks to all who wished me a happy birthday.  Yes, IMR has avoided the Green Ripper for another year.  Even though that shrouded ghastly figure always wins in the end with a sweep of his scythe.  Sometimes the final cut comes quickly, sometimes lingering.  But it didn't happen for me today.  Make the most of what you have.  Love your family.  Love a stranger.  Love the idea of love.  G
 ;)

I was too busy these last two days to read through this thread, so I didn't get the birthday bit. Happy birthday, Gary  Hope you had a good time with you family and your new socks!

Cheers,

Simon

The minions are back today and we're outside enjoying the rather warm, 77°, day today.
With no batteries to change, splinters to remove or anything else expected I decided to show a rair view of my pocket pouch.
It's been with me it this configuration for quite a while.
Streamlight Nano,
Brass LFM,
Gerber Shard,
Spare house key,
Grumpy key tag,
And of course a MiniChamp.

The pouch came from the craft store.
It was folded, stitched and coated with black spray paint.
Addicted to sharp pointy things.

Attention:  A very important notice from the Boy Scouts about knife maintenance and proper usage of this very important tool.  A little dated for sure.  But still good.  Take notes if you need.

Day 6 of 30:
Was worn out and forgot to post before I went to bed early last night. Peeled a couple of oranges during class but didn't take a picture so as to not bring any more attention to myself. Snapped a picture when I emptied my pockets into my Stormy Kromer, which holds my most often carried items.

Nice use and pic MTSAK! :like: :tu: :tu:

Popping the plastic on a Factor meal.  For the lazily-inclined, these are actually pretty good.  Shipped to you "fresh" in a cold pack, not frozen.[/i]

No use yet today, but I have one of my MiniChamps on standby.
There was a time when I was taking the scales off of Classics and putting them on MiniChamps.

That's about the best way to do it.  You can find some nice ones that are actually cheaper than a set of replacements from Victorinox.

Day 7

Well… I had a tool failure today.

I was trying to open a bottle of Topo Chico (carbonated mineral water) at the office today. The bottle opener on the Minichamp was not up to the job!

I’ve opened bottles with the 58mm combo tool before but it just couldn’t get a grip on this bottle cap while also being able to reach the top of the cap for leverage.

My back up 91mm had to come out of my pocket and bail the Minichamp out. I didn’t take a picture, since I was at work, so here’s a picture of the SAKs involved in this sad tale.

One SAK coming to the aid of another.  Nothing sad about that.

Nothing major to report aside from the MC freeing this gum from imprisonment.

With the amount of coffee I drink... I'd say about 5... give or take a 1000.

Day 7

Actually, it's after midnight, so technically already day 8 - hope this still counts. Came home from my seminar beat, opened a package with the orange peeler and eventually just fell asleep. Oh, well. Anyway, it's the first time I used the orange peeler for this task. It works well but not better than the small blade imho, so I saw no advantage here. Maybe it will score higher with blister packs? if I find one in the course of the challenge, I will try.

I'm a little disappointed that the Arc didn't cut it's own way out, stand up, and introduce itself.  :pok:    I do like Victorinox and Leatherman, and when not doing a challenge I carry both.

Day 8
Mini opens a snack.  Chocolate cake pops.  Not really like cake.  More of a brownie on a stick dunked in chocolate.  With sprinkles.  Very rich in additives and lots of both food groups.  Fat and calories.
So far I have carried only the Mini.  I use the lanyard built on a shoestring.  I keep a little money in the same pocket.  The cord gets tangled up in that a little on occasion.  No biggie.
I have used the main blade, the emergency/letter opener blade, the cut n picker hook gimmick, the scissors, and the nail file pointy tool.  Mostly the nail file.  Oh, also the key ring since Victorinox considers that a tool as well.

Trivia:  when making my latest post, I learnt that the word "s-p-e-c-i-a-l-i-s-t-s" gets blocked by the spam filter because it contains the letters of an ED medication.  So I had to use "engineers".

Stoer, I remember the days of the old Kodak cameras with the plastic film cassette and the square flash bulb on top.  Circa 1970's.
