:iagree: They're tough, old school multitools.  In a way, they're a throwback to the '90's when the whole concept was simple and rugged.  I think you'd have fun with one!

Day 15

We're at the mid point of the challenge  :woohoo:  Lots and lots of great pics and stories have been posted already, so I can't wait to see what the 2nd half brings  :tu:

I have to admit that I'm getting a little tired of the OHT.  It's just too big and bulky for pocket carry  :td:  I'll have to search for a pocket clip of some sort.

(Image removed from quote.)

Yes, half way point is today!
Yes, it is bulky, but not really big, I view in the mid range as a heavier Rebar, it is thick like a Charge, and kinda like the offensive center in American Football, functional and dependable.

This is my 2nd challenge,  and by a challenge the 2nd time I have eliminated my other MTs from my daily mix.

Previously,  I  was working a construction gig, and the  OHT rode around in a Molly sheath strapped to soft style tool grip.  And, a ST300 was sheathed on my belt, the one hand function filled its purpose multiple times while mounting and wiring equipment, not everyday but enough that remained part of the kit.

The first challenge 11/2019, I was working P/T at the Y responsible for Maintenance and pool  care.  I acquired a large camo sheath from LM for 7$. Think they still have today.     The tool replaced a REBAR!   The OHT worked for me, looked good doing the tasks other than the saw being short to cut pipe. It worked.

The OHT is a WORKMAN’s tool🤪
It is not a gentleman’s tool, it is bulky, not pocket friendly unless a chore coat or a vest.
R
I have settled that this challenge,!haveve carried in my  crossbody bag, or my right rear jean pants pocket, or in the camo sheath on my belt.

My tool needs are minimal this time of the year stuck in the house do to the harsh winter weather,  yet I do leave the house with it😁

Never thought of a pocket clip, as I think it is to big (thick) , the reason I do not use a clip on the WAVE, or Charge!

Just my thoughts!!!   Besides, your comments, reminded me of the 60 day Spirit challenge, of my thoughts after 30 day mark :dunno:  :dunno:
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Edit: LC, one other thing I'll say for the OHT.  It's a very well engineered product that will stand up to hard use every day.  It's a lot more rugged than its size would have you think.  I can think of two cases of an OHT being used in a school maintenance capacity, one of which is Noah my son.  He had his for years and decided to edc it and see what it could take.  He told me he tried to kill it and he couldn't.  His friend said the same thing about his.  Leatherman built this one well.  I'd love to see them back in the OHO game, but I don't think it's going to happen again anytime soon

Challenge within a Challenge

Day 16, one day beyond point of no return to completing this difficult feat!

Tell us why!!! 🤪.    YOU, yes YOU 😵‍💫. Bought your first OHT Leatherman tool!

There had to be a reason, a real reason to take a clam pak off the peg board, and hold it, or study ed some nit on your computer screen and then add to the online cart and give away your billing information.

I challenge each of you to tell the truth, WHY !  I am curious.

I will admit, Rich_SD’s post caused a question to surface because I have never encounter an OHT LM TOOL in the wild.  I have seen electricians with Surge on their belt, maintenance workers with a SuperTool on their belt or in their portable cart.  A motorcycle rider with a Gerber pancake sheath next to his Buck110 sheath.  Farmer with almost destroyed nylon sheath with a Rebar or Wave  on his belt, even dump truck driver fueling his rig at the gas station having something hanging from his belt, a knife, vice grip holster…. But never a OHT., a Crunch once but never a OHT.

So, please tell your story with your daily picture in the next few days.   Thank you in advance😁

Day 16

It all started with some Leatherman PSTs.
I was on eBay looking for another PST when someone listed a "Gerber Leatherman Multitool" seen below.  Since I was into Leatherman tools, I bought it thinking it was a collaboration tool, or maybe a custom?

It was the first time I ever had a plier flicking tool.  I loved that feature immediately.   I then bought a few More Gerber Mr Pinchys and MP Series tools.
As I was preparing for the MP600 challenge that Barry hosted, I starting reading what other challenges there were.

Then I found this challenge.
I didn't know Leatherman made an OHT and I found out too late.   :ahhh  They were out of stock at Leatherman, so I searched all over the internet.  And I mean searched!  One time I bought a discontinued Trangia stove set from Lebanon!
Luckily I found the one I'm using in the challenge here in the USA.  Galls had them I'm stock.  I ordered it on 11/29/23.  They still show that they can be ordered, but I see they must be out of them because they say they'll ship by 4/1/24.  When I ordered mine it was within 24 hours they would ship.
https://www.galls.com/leatherman-tools-oht-one-hand-multi-tool?PMSRCH=leatherman

I dig this OHT.  Not sure it would be an EDC for me, but I certainly like it.
Here it is with some Gerbers.

Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

My oldest bought one years ago and finally put it to work a couple of years ago.  He had a buddy in the Coast Guard who carried one and loved its handiness and durability.  I was impressed by Noah's review of his and posted in the MTO Swap section.  Zoidberg gifted me his and the rest is history.  Mine is one well traveled tool! Twice across the Pacific, completely across the United States to snowy central Pennsylvania.

I've actually had an OHT longer than a MP600.  For an Army guy that's an exception to the rule.  My original multitool after my Dad's PST was a SOG Powerlock, an Army issue.

I love the novelty of the OHT and dearly want to see Leatherman go forward with their concept because it truly is an OHT.  I could EDC this tool but, like Lisa, probably won't.  My ADHD keeps me swapping out!

Day 16

My toolset for this cold January Tuesday
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The battery of an exterior door sensor for my alarm has gone low due to the colder temperatures. Now must change it with fresh one, a task I should’ve done this fall😵‍💫🥺🙄. (Yes, I heard that voice telling e my me to get it done!🙄)

My OHT adventure started  on a boring evening after dinner while I was on the road working in Grand Rapids, (I typically left home on Monday and returned on Friday night).   After supper, I traveled west to explore the Cabala’s in Wyoming, more precisely to see what knifes were on the racks… I had a gift card in my wallet, thanks to the hotel points I earned from being on the road!  Cabala’s, Amazon and Walmart cards were my consolation prize, usually exchange points for a mixture of $100 to $500 at a time. Once or twice a year.
Anyways at the store I find that a in store special of 20% of ALL Leatherman products was happening.

I already had a ST300, a SS Rebar, so what to get???
Oh, the Coyote Rebar (so cool), and next to it on a peg was a BO OHT?  (WTH-eck?)

I think I blacked out.🙄.    Maybe I bought both that visit, I did have $100 gift card.  May have to review my MTo archives😁

The first OHT was my first BO LM tool, gritty. I remember washing it off in the hotel sink, drying with the hair dryer and then oiling down with some light  oil from my tool kit.  It had the this cool sliding plier head, similar to a Diesel Gerber I had found at a pawn shop.
But, wait, I can open the blades without ejecting the pliers, 😁.

This tool did not go on my belt, instead I strapped the sheath  onto my soft tool bag.  The seatbelt cutters helped cut through the 16-12 or 16-24 cable encasements , the small screw driver fit into the connector block as a back up, so this was cool.

It worked, was not pretty, but it worked.

Then I retired!😁.   Got a part time gig doing maintenance at Y.  Then a MTo challenge for the OHT. I completed, and thought, this tool attracted much interest from a fellow member, I gifted it to him!  RapidRay our cheer leader.   He loved it, he used it, shared pictures slicing his lunch time apples, working rooftops cleaning A/C units,  he was happy!

I on the other hand missed my OHT, there was  an empty space in my tool grip!🥺.  So, summer of 2020, I searched the bay for a bargain BO OHT, and found one, practically brand new. And, after watching the listing, I placed the only bid and it arrived a week later.  My 2nd OHT. I was now whole.   And then this last harrah challenge and here I am with my OHT2!☺️

No to the MP600!

I will clarify, and admit I do not have the MP600, but do have a Diesel (same platform) and a MP400, the little version of a 600.

To me the downside of the MP600 is that you must deploy the pliers any time you want to deploy another tool and then again to return that implement back into the handle.  Now if you like flicking the pliers out of the handles like fidgeting  or other ticks, I find it annoying.

Center drive by Gerber, could be an option if you want to try the Gerber (Fiskar) brand.

Just saying !🙄🥺🤪

Got 'ya , that makes a lot of sense  :hatsoff: The only Gerbers I have are 2 pinchy Multipliers and the use of the implements as you mention is a little cumbersome as well as fhe knife blade.

If you liked your mod'ed '400, you'll enjoy the '600; an easier to mod platform, relatively cheap, two (common) heads to choose from: either blunt or needle nose (if all planets align and you summon the moon rightfuly, you could also get a fisherman's or cable cutter one). Many tools/implements to choose from...I like it a lot. One caveat, like LC stated, you do need to open and deploy the pliers to get to the implements ( not a deal breaker for me). So, after all this rambling, yes, get one!!! :like: :pok: :like: :pok:

Thanks Juan, appreciate your opinion. Sounds like one of those rabbit holes again  :D
