Four years- not a bad run.
on: October 16, 2023, 08:59:33 PM
I made it four years into a pandemic without getting sick.  Not a bad run, but it's over now.

I started to feel sick at work on Friday, then when I got home I found out I was running a fever of 103F- very bad indeed!

Yesterday I got a PCR test done, and the results are in- either I have COVID, or COVID has finally gotten me!   :ahhh

Anyways, I seem to be on the mend already, although I will be taking another day or two off work- I'm outside all day and having issues that no one wants in a porta potty.  Also, I don't want to infect anyone on my team.

I'm worried about Megan as she is also showing symptoms, and she is in getting a PCR test done now.  I think it's safe to assume she also has it.   :ahhh

Still, four years into a pandemic is a pretty good run I think!

Prayers out to you both. Hope you feel better soon!!

I caught Covid a few months ago. With the covid meds, I got feeling better quickly.

I tested positive for three more weeks, missing work the entire time.

As I said, I feel much better now, but it was a rough weekend.  Missing some work is going to hurt, but considering what many have gone through, I will consider myself quite lucky.

Megan has some medical issues already that may complicate things, so I have really only been concerned for her sake.

You outlasted us... We managed to stay clear for 3 years. Hope your bout is as light as ours was, and it's not too bad for Megan

I hope you and Megan feel better very soon. Stay hydrated! Pedialyte or any electrolyte drink will help replace the fluids you're sweating out with the fever but I prefer the sugar free versions.

+1

There's no way to tell how covid works. A colleague of mine and her two kids got it and her husband didn't. They kept their daily routine, working from home, no special precautions.

Hope you get rid of it soon!

You are way cooler than me!  I never get the hot new diseases!

The closest he'll never got was H1N1 about a year after that was cool.

I will say this though- everyone who said there was no need to horde toilet paper because it is a respiratory illness.....

Myth BUSTED.

I just restocked our supply and I'm concerned it won't be enough.  And that's terrifying considering I haven't eaten anything since Friday!   :ahhh

I made it all the way to August 2021 and wound up in the hospital.  Got it again in August 2022 but only had to get the shots.

Hoping y'all are better soon.

Thankfully it doesn't look like we are heading to the hospital or anything that serious.  Megan is better today than yesterday- not by much, but she's at least going in the right direction.

I keep getting better each day as well, but I don't think I'm going back to work this week   last week I was debating taking this coming Friday off, but it doesn't seem like that's going to be an issue now.

I'm heading back to work tomorrow.  I was off all last week.

I'm not 100% yet but I should be good enough, and I'll stay masked when dealing with others just in case I am still contagious.

I had a moment today when the whole world did a dolly zoom on me, which doesn't seem normal.

But, I'm pretty sure the bank doesn't give a smurf if I have a boo boo, so I have to get back to the grindstone.

Eeeep! I'm glad you and M are better. Crazy it's still around and infecting people. I've resigned to the fact I will always for the rest of my life have to wear a mask outside and dealing with the public because the wife has very low immunity and since this all started and we started wearing masks she's hardly gotten sick since this nastiness started except the one time when the "All Clear" word came out and I went to the store and didn't wear a mask and brought home a nasty cold, Yuck. Luckily we never got Covid  we have been tested a few times from doctor and home (Gov) test. (knocks on wood)

My smoke and prayers to you and yours and everyone.

My partner has succumbed to Covid (hopefully not too bad, but still knocked her flat for a couple of days).  I hope she recovers soon, it isn't nice.

Then I had a swollen throat and nasal discharge down my throat (yuck !) so naturally thought I had Covid too, but so far two negative results from RAT tests (yes I know the "T" stands for test but it doesn't read right without the "test" afterwards) so it looks like I just have a head cold.  I still feel crap though.

Try & stay healthy everyone ...

Sorry to hear that. The Rapid tests are notorious for giving false negatives, especially with current variants.  Might be worth booking a PCR test for a more accurate diagnosis.

I hope you both feel better soon!
