OFFICIAL 2024 JANUARY CLASSIC CHALLENGE

are you a true minimalist? Or do you want to be?

do you have what it takes? (probably not)

Starting January 1st 2024 test your mettle in the New Year by carrying just a Classic or Classic SD for an entire 30 days!

THATS IT!

this doesn't mean just carrying a Classic on your keychain and then carrying every earthly thing you can in your pockets it means genuinely trying to use just the Classic or Classic SD as your main EDC!



yeah yeah ok if you need to use another tool stand at attention and explain yourself!!  :salute:

has this ever been done before?
(honestly not sure)

is this the most evil challenge ever conceived?
(possibly)



if we get enough people for this challenge I'm going to design an epic custom badge that can be earned for those who complete the 30 days using just the classic or classic sd :ahhh

Do other SAKs with the Classic toolset but different names (Bijou, Broker, Tomo….) qualify as well for this challenge?

 :think: hmm. I will have to ponder this one. I've been looking forward to getting back to my "big" knives after the MiniChamp challenge and Executive Challenge this month. I may just have to jump in on this one and keep the "mini" ball rollin.

Keep going down this path, and there will be an Empty Pockets Challenge soon.  No SAK.  No MT.  No nothing.  Just wallet, keys and phone for 30 days.

   I couldn't join in the Chuck Y. Challenge because I didn't have the right SAK.  Same with the MP600 fun.  Didn't have one of those either.  I really would like to be in the 130mm Challenge, but.... you guessed it. 
   I thought I might pick up a bigger SAK when I joined here.  Maybe a 111.  A 130 would have been great.  Then I thought I might pick up a Champion or something like that.  And a Leatherman. 
   Well, the Leatherman wish came true.  (Thank you to whoever put that beautiful Wingman in the SoS surprise box).  The other wants and wishes didn't happen.  No Champ.  No 111mm.  I'm a big boy.  I can handle not getting everything, right? 
    But I do have a Classic.  Several actually.  I gave away some, but still have some users that I can carry.  I know Explorer runs a good game.  Lots of chuckles.  What else could I do in January anyway?  Looking forward.  Best wishes.  G

    Doesn't seem to be a rush to join up on the littlest SAK challenge.  Makes you wonder a little.  Is it the usual seasonal running around buying things?  Or stringing lights?  I plead guilty to the holiday woes myself.  I didn't post hardly anything for about a week.  Oh well, nothing to do but wait.  Draw a little picture in the sand with a stick.  Flick an ant off your bare leg.  Watch the plastic bobber and see if something nibbles at the bait.  Best wishes.  G :whistle:

Just saying, challenges are often with  with tools we normally do not carry, or tools we are not as familiar 😉

I dare say every challenge I have partakes in has had reports that include a CLASSIC with the subject of topic.

I know the CLASSIC is a popular  knife  multi-tool, in January are we going to feather many sticks for the camp fire, or cut notches into the branch to carry our catch from the stream.   

January, I can see it busy slicing envelopes open with our credit card statements, or filing nails after a trim with the scissors, or the popular cutting tape for the package being returned for exchange or refund.

The Classic may be best celebrated  during warmer months when we wear lighter attire, and decide to leave the bulky EDC on the counter, the MT on the dresser top…

When I go on a beach vaycay, I abandon my normal carry and go with a Classic SD and 1xAAA light together on a neck lanyard.  Those two will cover the great majority of what most people need on a daily basis.

Hi there Brick,
      Explorer can clarify if he wants.  My understanding is carry any Classic.  Different one every day if you want.  Bijou, Tomo, whatever has the Classic or Classic SD toolset.  I plan on carrying a Bijou and one of two Classic SD type maybe.  Try to get by with using just the Classic.  Don't carry a multi or larger SAK unless you are pressed into it.  Explorer can correct me if I am wrong.  It's his show.  Join in if it sounds good.  Best wishes.
