Gerber MP Mod
on:
December 30, 2023, 06:21:52 PM
Anybody ever successfully mod a t-shank from Leatherman to a Gerber mp? I can't find the Simonds diamond file anywhere without paying a premium so I'd like to mod a t-shank as leatherman offers a diamond file for it.
Thanks

Hi Goose,
I guess nobody ever did the mod you are asking about. Sounds like fun to try it, though. There is a Gerber section in the site. Sometimes the Gerber people don't visit the General Tool outfit. You might try doing a search using the appropriate keywords. Just about everything has been tried here once. Best wishes. Gary (IMR)

I don't know anyone who has done that. I think it would be easier to source a Simmons file.

I'm going to move this to the mod squad section of the forum.

I've modified regular t shanks to work in my Bladeless, using a rotary tool to clear one nub, thin the blade shank (as it needs to be no more than 1.15mm thick) and, using a diamond burr, drill a hole for the lock tab. The ones on top of the exchangers are regular u-shanks, the ones in and under are modified t shanks (with the exception of the serrated and plain edge blades which are homemade):
