Best Multitool movie ever
on: February 09, 2009, 02:36:02 AM
Well, best one that doesn't actually include a multitool anyway!

The Abyss is a great movie unto itself, but where it really appeals to the multitool guy in me is the part where Ed Harris and his ex wife are trapped in a submersible with a small, easily fixed leak.  Easily enough, except that the leak is behind a panel, which could be removed in seconds, if only they had a few basic tools, like those found on the average multitool!

The best line is when, in a moment of frustration, he says something like "I can't believe we are going to die just because we don't have a crescent wrench!"

Actually it's a pretty good movie... and it illustrates why you should always carry a multitool of some sort, regardless of where you are!

It seems odd to me that there wouldn't have been a basic tool box in the submersible for this or any other type of situation.

Good movie, although the end was kind of lame.

Also one of the first movies to use really good CGI...that water thing must have been outrageous when it first came on screen!

End of the movie lame?  Thats when Chris Elliot has his best line (I don't know what it is, but its big).  Chris Elliot is my favorite actor that never was.

You sound like perhaps the only other guy in the world to remember Chris Elliot's attempt at sitcom fame, "Get a Life!"

I remember that show!  Man, that show was short-lived...  :(

His real mother and father in the show along with Brian Murray as the landlord all made it a classic (albeit short lived and never to be seen again).  I remember a scene where Chris was putting a shotgun to his head trying to get his foot on the trigger when he said "Im pretty sure this is how mt dad told me to do it"......ya had to be there, it was hilarious.

For anyone wondering, the old guy ends up beating Spewey to death with a rake, and it turns out he's actually pretty tasty, so they both eat him.  Then, the leftovers in the fridge regenerate overnight, and Spewey returns to his home planet.

My favorite "should have been" multitool movie is PAYBACK, staring Mel Gibson.  He didn't have an MT but he did have a S&W.357 and a Spyderco Endura

Perfect for anti-mob EDC :tu:

Some run from breaks of ice, and answer none:
And some condemned for a fault alone." -William Shakespeare, King Lear (1608), Act IV, scene 6, line 169

Payback was great.... loved that part when he was getting a ball pein hammer to the toes :D

Wonder though if you got the allspark too close to a multitool if it would turn into a Transformer. Go Bot maybe?
