My Dad's Few Knives
on: December 25, 2023, 10:03:54 PM
Hello everyone. I thought I would share the few knives dad ever owned. He gave them to me in 2015. He worked for a Ford Motorcraft warehouse from 1979-2010. The top two knives are made by Zippo. The one on the right was never used. The SAK wanna be has Colonial on the blade, but no idea what it is. The Buck 110 has also never been used. What is that Colonial made knife?

Colonial is a well known maker of traditional folders.

    I mentioned in a post one time about the sort of knives that came on a cardboard display.  Usually on the wall by a cash register in a little country store.  Colonial made lots of low-cost knives.  Many here probably remember getting a Colonial Barlow as a boy.  Made kites.  Gut and scale their fish.  Whittle a little.  Men sometimes carried them to cut tobacco.  Providence, Rhode Island company.
    That is a nice little Ford collection already.  Belonging to Dad just makes it better.  Best wishes.  Gary

Nice keepsake knives.  I only have 3 of my dad's knives.

I joke with some collectors about those cardboard displays.  When I was growing up I only knew of 2 kinds of knives;
Barlow's from the store display and Buck knives which everyone else seemed to have, but not me.

I've thought about picking up a Colonial as it caught my attention. Much to my wife's dismay. :rofl:

     You have to be careful about who your wife sees you trying to pick up, Nando.  Aren't Zippo knives made by Case?  Lots of people seem to be into the Zippo thing.  Lots here actually.  I checked out what Colonial was making now.  Take a look at their multi-tool if you get a chance.  Best wishes.  G

I think you're correct on the Zippo knives but I believe Zippo now owns Case so it makes sense.
