Hello to day 27.
more package opening . Sadly no LMs in the package .
A sample of sand I must write a report on.  sounds dreadfully boring unless you are into concrete.

Day 27 of 30:
Did yard work all day yesterday and passed out when I got inside. Nothing exciting yesterday except filed a broken part of my nail

Day 28

The photo is only slightly more disinteresting then what I actually did today.

The granola bar that I brought to work was crushed to smithereens. I was unable to tear the package open without having crumbs fly everywhere, and the way it was going - I was literally stretching the package instead of tearing it. I cut across one end of the package and poured the crumbs down my neck for a much needed snack.

Day 28 of 30:
Spent most of the afternoon out of the house while the realtor and photographer were taking pictures to list our house. Used the scissors to open a new box of diapers. Didn't take a picture since a half-naked baby was escaping. Also got a new Knafs Micarta Lander 1 in the mail today. Sweet knife!

Said goodbye to my best friend of the last thirteen and a half years, a daft, gentle chocolate Labrador.
I'm so sorry to hear of Crunchie's passing. You have my deepest condolences. And I have no doubt that Mrs. FX and all of our dogs who have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge will welcome him.

She proably thinks you're going to clip her nails with it, or something...
There's only one solution - Let her see you using it to open a pack of steak, and then cut off a generous slice for her!!
She's more worried about getting her "ragamuffin fur" trimmed. I'll have to give the thing with the steak (or another tasty treat) a try!

A sample of sand I must write a report on.  sounds dreadfully boring unless you are into concrete.
Could be interesting enough, I guess...but I won't work with concrete. It's nasty stuff.

Also got a new Knafs Micarta Lander 1 in the mail today. Sweet knife!
That's some spiffy Micarta! :tu: Is the Lander the one that Knafs put the scale dimensions and whatnot available via open source?

No bonus today, but I still intend to pop a top tomorrow.

Used the Micra to separate cans of salmon - the secret ingredient in Krabby Patties.

Already had to use the Micra to some bands off of a new charger for my watch this morning. The scissors worked great for not cutting the wire accidentally

A few thoughts on the Micra as we wind this one down.  I have come to appreciate the Micra over the years, especially the scissors which for me are the closest rival to the awesome Victorinox scissors.  But the Micra scissors are superior to the Victorinox flavor for heavier duty tasks like cutting up a credit card where you need a better handle and more leverage.  I prefer the retired Leatherman Squirt to the Micra, due to the former's outside opening tools and somewhat more robust design, but the Squirt's scissors were pretty lame.  Why Timmy killed the Squirt I'll never know, but like all things at Leatherman it gets back to the revenue stream.

As between the Micra on a keychain vs. a Classic or Manager, that's a close call for me with the Micra coming out ahead.  The Manager gives you a pen, which is a big plus for me, but I have been carrying a Fisher space pen during this Challenge to complement the Micra.  The Micra's flat driver and 2D phillips more closely mimic "real" drivers than those found on the 58mm Victorinoxes.  A Classic or Manager is smaller and lighter than the Micra, which is a big deal on a keychain.  I tend to carry an Explorer Plus, and add to it a Manager for the micro phillips and pen.

I will continue to carry the Micra from time to time, and this has been a fun Challenge.  Thank you gra_farmer and everyone for a glorious Challenge.

I agree 100% - plus the Micra scissors are more ergonomic because you operate them like real scissors (vice with your thumb on a SAK).

Day 29

Thank you for all the kind words about losing Crunchie.

I’ve tried to keep busy with a much-needed bit of tidying, including breaking down some boxes to recycle.
Not all of them ever contained Leatherman goodies, but most of them did!

DAY 29

The finishing line is in sight, and the Micra has helped to remove old copper dial-up internet cable...

Still cleaning and clearing the new temporary home....the Micra has helped a lot, but I keep finding the scissors are a let down for me....the knife on the other hand is really good.

Your welcome Powernoodle  :hatsoff:

The whole point of this challenge, and the reason for wanting to start it, was all because of wanting to appreciate the smaller tools...I found that after the SAK classic, it is always on me now  :D

I wanted this to be true for the Micra for the same reasons you mentioned, and the fact the Micra should be the grown up version of the classic or mini champ as a keyring multi tool....for me I find that I still need to warm to the Micra...on paper it is the preferred keyring multi tool....???

I will try to carry it more often after the challenge....but for me it is a toss up between the Micra and the mini champ as the battle for the keyring multi tools... :woohoo:  great excuse to carry them both you could argue

But I must give credit where due, the futon dismemberment was the best, and hardest challenge the Micra had, a photo to remind everyone... :multi:

The scissors, ,  well I goofed up and only trimmed hairs on one nostril

Caught when running out of the house :like: with a Quick Look in the mirror, already behind schedule.

The MICRA SCISSORS, ever so steady in these feeble hands cleared the debris field after three snips!  Whew!

I don't mind telling you... this was one of the reasons I jumped on the pocket scissors bandwagon years ago.  I had found on multiple occasions that my whiskers were uneven, or I had missed a spot in the morning, as I was tidying up in the restroom before a meeting at work... something requiring me to be presentable.  This hasn't happened in a while, and I suppose I was rushing myself too much at the time... but still I find this to be an important emergency use when needed.   On the other hand, it's true that I no longer need to... or at least care to... be presentable.
