Leatherman Cerakote Guide

Hi, I would like to know if anyone has prior experience/knowledge about applying cerakote to leatherman tools; if I need someone else to do it, do it myself, or if it is unpractical. This is the time to share you're thoughts.

I'm planning on having my Rebar Cerakoated in the future, but will be sending it out to get it Professionaly done

From what I understand you need special equipment to get it to stick and harden.
There is Durakoat that can be done at home, but it's not quite as durable as Cerakoat I think.

I bet we could get a group rate if we all sent our pieces at the same time. We would all need to request the same color, but it would probably take the price way down.

: Order of operations; find who else agrees, find reliable service, figure out how much, and pick color.

I don't see why everyone agreeing on one color should be a factor. No reason to assume whatever shop does the work would only have one choice. It is much more likely that they have several. If they only have one color, then you would have to be happy with whatever they have on hand.
I have a friend who does Cerakote. I have been trying to get him to join MTo. So far without any luck. Best wishes. Gary

I would think one color means they can all be strung up and sprayed at the same time like they do at the Leatherman factory. Multiple colors requires much more time to be spent since each has to be done separately, color has to be reloaded and sprayed again, etc… that time would drive up the cost considerably.

As for voting on a color, coyote, black, forest green?

I think a neutral color might be more applicable.
Things like earthy reds, cloudy blues, budding greens, and pastel creams.

Someone would need to reach out to a company, find out how much it would be to spray like 10 handles all the same color. The we get five people to split the cost.

My thinking is, in order to do one tool (2 handles) it would cost like $180.

In order to do 5 tools (10 handles), it would cost like $300. So it’s like $60 a tool.

We need someone to set everything up. They would find a shop that could do it, then we all send to that person. That person handles everything.

There is a guy here in Sweden I plan on using for Cerakoat that does it for the equivalent of 50 dollars for one frame, and if I where to do more in the same color I don't think the price will be much higher really
