Just got my new magazine in the mail. After I got through looking at the pictures, I decided to read. Double space after sentences and indents. It seems everyone didn't get the memo. Personally, I would like to make singing in elevators mandatory. Best wishes. G

Funny, I still hand write letters, in cursive!

So I indent each new paragraph.

True tale! I wrote a letter to my granddaughter thank her for her attention and assistance after her grandmother (my wife), passed away. I then learned, she could not read the letter, instead had her mother read it. Several times, she memorized it and has it tacked on her bedroom wall like a work of art. ❤️

My late pal Lee's three kids couldn't tell time with a clock that had hands. When he asked them to explain what the digital readout meant, they could only say that was the time. They had no concept of so many minutes before an hour or so many minutes past or what that meant.
Not being able to read or write in whatever manner or tell time with a watch is a gigantic fail for the educational system. Parents have to fill in these gaps. Best wishes. G

I just got done a grad degree in writing and I hadn't heard about indents being out. MANUAL indents (as opposed to templating/setting it) on the computer are out, but that's mostly an efficiency thing, and no one would know unless they went and checked your actual specs or something.

I have to proof and translate IT knowledge articles intended for users.

The articles are created in English by someone who does not speak English as a first language... then the translations happen... Lately I am on a crusade to fix some important ones, and the more I look at it, the more I find wrong with it. It's beyond frustrating. These would fit in fine as I discovered most have anywhere between 3 and 10 spaces at the end of the sentences.

Attention to detail is terrible, for example the same word in both British English and American English spelling within the opening 2 sentences of the document.

To make things worse, I am translating to French which is not my native tongue, even if it is official in Canada, and one of the three languages I speak fluently.

That sounds like a real cluster. You must go through a lot of headache medicine or a lot of alcohol at the end of your day.

My sister, the university editor, says she still indents using the tab button but there is also the option to skip a line between paragraphs. Strictly a design choice. The point being that you need to do something to indicate that one paragraph has ended and another one has begun.
