As far as I know, you can do as many challenges in a month as you'd like. The only limit is one challenge badge per month. Would like to see you join in on this one!

Since I had the discount code, I wasn't gonna force you to take on the challenge alone.

As for the main user? A few photos I've posted elsewhere have probably resulted in little feline ears sticking up above the top of the bag. :D

i,unfortunately,do no own any locally-made customs [apart from whatever my dad made],and the closest we have to quality production knives here are basically mid-techs [i don't own any of those either].
i'll be using mainly production knives, with the odd custom i acquired over the years.

Should any of them meet length requirements, I'd be very keenly interested is seeing them!

Since I'm an early riser, let's post this and reduce the probability of Nate keeling over from anticipation...

Day 0

Here's my main participant for this challenge...an Opinel No. 12.

I'm itching to see what sort of patina it develops. And perhaps some size comparisons would be helpful.

Here's the No. 12 shown with a No. 6, a No. 4 with PIP (Potato-Induced Patina :D), a No. 3, and a No. 2.

And the No. 4 alongside a 91mm SAK.

The only question now is, what should I cook tomorrow?

Looks like I'm gonna do the official kick-off! :woohoo:

Day 1

I decided scrambled eggs and air-fried hickory smoked Spam would make a terrific breakfast. The No. 12 sliced through the Spam with ease.

While the Spam was frying up, I took a moment to assess the No. 12's pocketability. I've tried a few knives that were downright obnoxious in a hip pocket (the Svord Peasant is a good example). But the No. 12 fits in a hip pocket rather nicely. It wasn't able to help with the eggs, so it just supervised.

Breakfast was good. But the Spam didn't seem to help form a patina. I've gotten started on that since these photos were taken, though. Bonus shots to follow.

Howdy Farmer X!  Great looking Opinel you have there!
I wonder if the spam just gave the blade an oil coating!
What sauce is on the eggs?

Thank you, Kind Sir! :hatsoff: Your Spydie and Spike look pretty good, too. Does the Spydie have G-10 handles?

It's possible that the Spam gave the blade a little cost of oil. I washed it and spread a thin layer of vegetable oil on it after cutting the Spam. As for the sauce...just good ol' ketchup. :tu:

You might want to edit your post to add a "Day 1" notation. That makes it easier for everyone to follow, especially if a badge will be earned. Edit: never mind. Either I didn't catch the "Day 1," or it got added before I could post.

Indeed we are...and here's more!

Day 1 Bonus

I wanted to snack on a kiwi. The No. 12 was unwieldy, but I managed to get the kiwi peeled. The kiwi was awlso cut.

It's probably kinda hard to tell in the photo, but a patina is forming! :woohoo:

The patina is much more noticeable in the hand. And the kiwi was pretty tasty.

Day 1

Well, I’m already a day behind, which should be no surprise to anyone.

For this challenge, I’m hoping to show a number of different large blades, both folding and fixed.  Some I actually do carry; others, for various reasons, are not regular carries.

To begin, here’s a single blade 65 pattern Case Folding Hunter in CV steel.  In spite of being one of the largest folders Case produces, it is barely big enough to qualify for this challenge, with a blade length right around 4”.

If you’ve tried one of the two-blade versions but found them too heavy and bulky, you might be pleasantly surprised how much lighter and slimmer the single blade versions are.
