Day 11

Graft 03, 100mm

Thick plastic scales (does not fee like nylon), no liners, single bevel blade.

Its cousin, Vic Floral is a bit heavier (especially this version with brass liners) but Graft 03 still feels solid and sturdy, with  strong snap. And the wharnciffe blade looks very mean!

Man there's some sweet Wengers here.
@Farmer X,I had to rewire and reinsulate the cables, was pretty straightforward.  I'm not very adapt with wiring/cabling but this was easy.

Day 6
Nail file and scissors use, minor manicuring

@ReamerPunch: I hope they didn't give you the runaround or a bunch of grief during the return process

They took a while to reply to my messages, and offered a replacement, but I told them I don't need another tool with the same issues.

Day 11

Esquire in some rustic surroundings.  This was a spot dug up by some critter.  Insectivores claw up the moss for grubs.  Sometimes turkeys scratch up an area and wallow in the dust.  Supposed to finally get some kind of rain tomorrow.
I wonder where I can find a nice used chihuahua for Friday?  Low mileage.  Maybe a short-term lease?  None of the neighbors have one I could steal, ah borrow.  I will think of something.  Best wishes.  G

This will be but a brief check-in for me. I returned from an errand only to find my Wi-Fi was OOC.  I don't know exactly why, but it did force me to go to the library.

Last night's fire was a full block away from me. Apparently it was pretty bad; the building has already been demolished.

Day 11

My being pressed for time means only a glamor shot taken at the library. Believe it or not, the Evo 23 is sitting on a windowsill in this photo.

It can happen, as we get older the days streak on by!

If I am doing a challenge I need to set an appointment in my calendar, otherwise I miss them too!

Daughter back at college?
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Day 11  :salute:  A day of remembering….

Both of my sons were volunteer fire fighters when 9/11 occurred and knew if there they would have been climbing the stairs in either building.

Today, they are both Professional Firefighters for Fort Wayne City (FWFD) and they would do it in a heart beat.  They have done similar tasks to rescue, to keep safe, to stabilize and other tasks that they swore to do when needed.

The best answer I read to the question what should I do special for 9/11?    Feel the way you did on 9/12 everyday, about yourself, your first responders, your serviceman, your COUNTRY.

MY EVO 10 rode the pocket again today. The file was forgotten, 🥺 had to use a blade to trim a broken nail.

Two layer is smaller but the scale and grip is much easier for my hands to hold, grip and function 👍

Day 7
I always thought of the knife blade as being a stubby spearpoint. I opened a package with it (i usually use the small blade for this when carrying a Vic SAK).

Used the Highlander to cut some rope to repair the cat's scratching post. I think I got more spray glue on my hands than I did on the post.

Day 12

Esquire outside again.  I can hardly step outside without falling over a deer.  I see them browsing everywhere.  The grass is pretty well dead from the drought, but deer don't really graze much.  You see them piddling around with their noses to the ground, but my grass is only half actual grass (if that).  There are lots of other green plants growing.  The deer are nibbling on some of those, along with their usual browsing.  There is lots of jewelweed down by the little creek, but evidently it tastes icky.  Best wishes.  G

Quest sure makes some tasty treats. I've been a fan of the PB cups for a while, and I recently discovered the small cookies too. And those have even less sugar than the cups!

Daughter back at college?

Yeah, she's been back just a few weeks. I think my biggest distraction was planning a Labor Day weekend bike ride up to Kentucky. Scenery was postcard perfect,,,,, weather was not biker friendly at all. Got caught in two storms on that trip. Now keep in mind that in rural Kenucky you may not see anything but trees for long, long periods. The first storm was a bad one. So much rain coming down that you had continually swallow to keep from choking. Rode that one out for 22 miles before we found somewhere to pull over. Anyways, we survived. Came home and back to work,,,, within three day got a light cough. Two days later was admitted to hospital with pneumonia. On day four of recovery. It's been a ride this year.

But lately lately I've been living by the lyrics of a Ray Wylie Hubbard song. "Keep Your Gratitude Higher Than Your Expectations". And lemme tell ya, I notice an awful whole lot to be grateful for these days. :tu:

Oh yeah, if you're interested the song is titled "Mothers Blues". It tells quite a story that is supposed to be based on his life.

Day 11 (late)

Used the awl to open a package. Not as good as the Vic awl with more edge as a package opener. Probably should've used the can opener or the blade.

Awlso, thoughts on the Tool Chest Plus vs Delemont Evo Grip S54? Think it might be fun to try a big boy, and not sure which I'd prefer. The TC+ is obviously more "authentic" but I do like the Vic TP and Tweezers. Does the Delemont have semi-locking flathead?

Speaking of Wenger awls, I did discover one thing the hard way.  I had problems with the key chain nub on my Wenger Handyman poking me in the palm.  I zipped it off with a Dremel.  Then, I discovered that with the nub gone, the very tip of the awl is exposed.  Not enough to snag a pocket, but enough to feel it in your hand.  The awl on this particular Wenger would likewise be a very poor package opener but is pointy like a needle.  I could grind the point back a little, but I think I will leave it.  For now, anyway.  Best wishes.  G

I really like the big swingy 130s. I grabbed the Boatsman as a one day carry last month and wound up keeping it on my belt for a whole weekend.

Day 12
Evo-PTC opened up a new short shower curtain. It fits better on the  shower/tub in the new house.

@GA1dad: I know how life can get. Seems you're doing well, though. And I have no doubt there will be another Delémont challenge in the future!

@LoopCutter: :hatsoff: to your sons!

@Echotech: congratulations on that milestone, and a sweet Model 61! :like:

@AzteCypher: is that sisal rope? My cats have some scratching gear that could be repaired.

@ReamerPunch: I don't know if we have Quest snacks in the States, but I do enjoy a good peanut butter cup!

@BPRoberts: I can't say for sure if all the Delémont models have the locking cap lifter. Mine does, though.

@Antti Lammi: those look like some seriously heavy-duty scissors!

Another great day, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 12

These photos were actually taken last night, just in case my Wi-Fi didn't come back (obviously, it did). I grabbed the Mike Horn, as it was the most easily located Wenger that I don't mind putting to use. BPRoberts is right about that can opener being smurfing awesome.

Of course, after taking the below photo, I dropped the Mike Horn in the can! So it got a soak in warm water and some fresh oil.

And don't forget about the special rule for tomorrow: if you're able, take a photo of your SAK with a cute little animal. It's not an absolution, so don't stress out if it would present difficulties. I will explain tomorrow why that rule was implemented.

It's now Day 13 for me, so before I grab a little sleep, I'll explain why the special rule was put forth. Mrs. FX would have celebrated her birthday today. She enjoyed seeing the pet photos y'awl posted, and our little pets brought her much joy. So I think the special rule fits well.

That said...

Day 13

Tommy obliged us with a photo. I'll do my best to get a Beijing photo later today (she's currently barricaded herself with blankets, as she recently got a bath).
