what is the price ? It has to be over $300 and the Damasteel blade doesn't warrant more than a $50 price increase of a regular L.E. 93mm Alox model. They should be making regular production Damasteel 93mm Alox models and between $100 and $150 each. I know the cost of each Damasteel blade is no more than $30-ish a piece at their cost. The Damasteel knives are a cash grab for Victorinox. I would like a Damasteel Electrician regular production knife for $100-ish or do both blades in Damasteel and make it $150

I guessed it would be an FX as they did the PX in 2016 - nice! Hopefully I’ll be able to add one to my collection of alox SAKs when they’re released…. Ta for the heads up, nsa-x-file!

Thanks! I wonder if they’ll do the thing where £279 = $279 in the US? If so, id say that’s a pretty good price given what it will likely go for on the secondary market in a few years.

I do love my Alox SAKs but thats LM Arc money and I know what I'd prefer (something I'll use)

That's just far too rich for my "user" mentality to be comfortable with.

Best of luck to those that feel otherwise but it's a solid NO from the house of Surge  :salute:

I'm not sure about that color. Yet awl the same, I'd consider picking one up if there are any remaining on the primary market after I've made my higher-priority purchases,

@NSA - Thanks - Now that one looks a lot more brown - I quite like it!    :tu:   Funny how pictures vary - eh?    :pok:

So both Alox LEs are brown this year  ...... Interesting

@Surgey ...... Agree - Except with the "I'm gonna get an Arc" bit  ...... Also too expensive   ::)   - Although I would love one and would use it!!   ;)    >:D

@ Huntsman I can't afford justify an Arc either but, if I could justify afford an Arc I'd rather have one of those.

Hmmm   .......As in
  • She bought you the Arc
  • She bought you the Vic
  • She decided for you
  • She told you you would be buying neither

I guess the latter    :pok:         ;)

Listed on the Vic Aus website for AU $589, or only US $400. What are they smoking?  :ahhh

Wow - I thought £279 was steep enough!  A friend got theirs from the London store this morning, so here it is with my PX Damast 2016 and this year’s LE - the brown is really dark, like plain chocolate, which is appropriate really!

Available in the US now for $275... not sure if I’ll get one. Was hoping they’d do the cadet.

Isn't that quite a bit cheaper then previous Damscus LEs - Or is my memory failing me?

Seems a bit more reasonable than usual

PS. Thanks for the updates everyone and for the great pic Rizio

I’m very tempted.

I’m torn because it would probably only be a shelf queen, largely because it’s a farmer X and too large for what I would want to carry. Too bad it’s not a pioneer…

I thought so too, but I don’t really remember. I may just be confusing it with the prices in the secondary market.

My thoughts exactly. That's a lot of money to sink into a knife that will most likely live in a box, to only see the light of day a few times a year for a fondle.  :dunno:

Brock, last year’s cost £100 more than this year’s and it’s still for sale on the VicUK website - that was too much for me though I did like the knife (I got one for a friend who has a more extensive collection of Damasts and he paid me back; I also sold my 2015 to him to make his collection more complete)  - I finally got one for much less when Heinnie Haynes in the UK had some for sale and it helped fill the hole I felt when selling the 2015 to a more deserving home! I wonder if Heinnie will get some of these Farmer Xs later in the year and if he’ll sell them for a bit less too…..

Fair enough...

I totally get that collectors have a different perspective than us common users, and that they would likely be less sensitive to these elevated prices. You pay what you need to pay to complete a rare collection, and that is all good.

For me though, I find it hard to rationalise paying US $200+ more for a Damasteel blade in a different colour compared to a standard Farmer X, even if it is a better deal than previous years.

Hopefully they drop significantly in price, but until then, pardon me while I go stand in the corner...  ;)
