Dime Challenge?
on: July 11, 2024, 04:24:22 PM
I have no idea when, but would anyone be interested in a Dime Challenge?  Something different.  Let me know if you are interested and what dates might work  :D

I carried a Clutch for years and liked it. The Dime never clicked with me, but I'd consider giving it another shot. I think my dance card is mostly empty from this month until the utility challenge in December.

A half a dime is called a nickel, Antti.  What happened to the rest of it?  Sounds like a fun challenge.  Naturally I don't own one.  Best wishes.  G

i teared apart when i made MIcBer mod. i drilled pivots larger for to add those on Micra but founded out those wont work and since it was allready bad shape when i got it i decided only leave other half left for use. MicBer mod kinda failed since Micra didnt close properly when pliers was installed to it.

sadly cannot anymore assemble full dime since pliers pivot size is now larger than orginal (needed to enlarge pivot size to match Micra pivot) so i may need to get new Dime

I understand.  We should have some time.  I have the Swisschamp/Monster Challenge next month.  After that, I think I'm clear :D

I might be up for this one. My plate is kinda full, with the Signal challenge in October and the utility knife challenge in December. I don't think there's an official PST challenge thread yet. While I'm hosting the Delemont challenge in September, I awlready have that badge. Any other month is good for me.

I’d be up for this. Used to have one and actually really liked it. I’ll be up for getting another for the challenge though

How about early next year then?  I can get it on the upcoming list and there will be plenty of time to get ready.  For our UK and sensitive work area participants, the usual carry only when you can applies.  Bear with me as I'm still learning a lot about Gerber, but if there's any of their other multitools that fit this category, then by all means let's show them some attention!

The Dime is a great minitool.  My only knock is on the pliers backspring which will fail if you try cutting 12ga solid core wire.

However I love the blade shape and the bottle opener

I do too Mr. Whippy.  I've actually used the pliers for removing cotter pins, etc.  I wish the scissors were just a bit more refined, Vic Classic wise.   The wire cutters don't seem to be up to heavy duty tasks but this is a keychain tool so I can understand that.  Ilove that bottle opener!

Great RP!  I think it would be a great time.  I like those badges!  What month would work for you?  I'm stacked through March.  After that I'm open.

I posted over in the keychain tools section about possibly expanding this to include Leatherman and SOG pliers based keychain tools in this.  Let me know! How does May work?

Okay, what I've done is move this over to the Keychain Section and open it up to the other makes of plier-based tools out there.  I think we'll get more people involved and the comparisons should be right interesting!

https://forum.multitool.org/index.php?topic=93465.msg2512203#new  is the link to it.  I'm going to list it for May on the 2025 Challenge list.  Hope to see you there!
