Image too large?
on: July 11, 2024, 07:38:42 PM
Tried to post a couple of photos recently, however it says there was either a connection error or the image was too large to post. I’m not sure how to reside though as I predominantly use my iPhone. Many thanks

I used a photo compression app on an android for a couple of weeks.  Someone who uses an iPhone can tell you better about those.  I generally take a photo and email it to myself.  Then I open my email on a computer and resize it from there.  Best wishes.  G

I use a photo editing app that has a resize option.
Works great.

Yeah this is a constant problem here.

Since many of the images posted here are of rare tools and rarer info about them, we never prune old photos like many forums do.  They would simply never be seen again in many cases, and that is absolutely against the spirit of MTO.

That having been said, we have been amassing info for 18 years now, so you can imagine just how humongous our database is.   :ahhh

As a concession to our site tech Whoey and the very expensive server we run to manage it all, we have dropped picture sizes as small as we can and still be good quality.

It's a balancing act, and sometimes a bit frustrating, but it beats the alternative.  We have info on tools the manufacturers of said tools done even have.
