Spartan lite, replacing the led
on: August 01, 2024, 05:01:52 PM
Hi there,

I would like to know if you need to disassemble the knife in order to change the led? Only the 2 cell batteries seem to be accessible by opening the grey led case but not the led itself
Also do you have any reference for led replacement?
Thanks a lot!
Eric

The LED is in the scales, right?  The scales come off fairly easily.  Just as likely to be a connection as the LED.  Normally you soak the knife in hot water and pry off the scales.  You wouldn't want to do that with the batteries inside.  You could just see if Victorinox will repair it.  Best wishes.  G

Gary's right.  You should be able to pop off the scales gently with another thin blade like from the classic SD.  I just did this on a Microlight Esquire without too much trouble.  If you're having difficulty getting the scale off, you could try putting a hot towel on it to help things a bit.  You could also try using a hair dryer but be careful that you don't get so close to the scales that you melt them.
May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

So the Spartan Lite has the batteries and LED in a little plastic pod.  Well, who knew?  You can always still send it back to the Ibach boys and girls.
I hate to see someone who is making his (or her) first post get no answer at all.  So, sometimes I throw out an answer.  If you need to know anything about gold investing, marriage, electric car repair, tarot, or metal bands feel free just to ask me.  I don't know anything about those either but will gladly make up something for you.  Best wishes.  G
