Thundah, perhaps using wet or dry sandpaper you may? I've done some, and has had "respectable" results going from 600, 1000, 1500, 2000, and a final polish with a metal polishing cream( in my case, Blue Magic Metal Polishing Cream); I also use a solution of dishwashing liquid and water for lubricant, and to prevent the paper from clogging.

I think I have run out of Sad SAKs.  Might as well post a photo of the Sad SAK that I am carrying.  Years take their toll.  Both scales are loose at one end and one is split as well.  Still serving, as Sad SAKs do.  Best wishes.  G

A Tale of Two Multis..... One sad, one glad.  The Wenger came out of the Surprise Box.  I kept it to have a beater to carry during the Belemont deal.  The pretty alox is a Bantam.  A gift from a friend.  And my only alox.  Best wishes.  G

That Wenger still functions perfectly, yes?  Kind of a fan of the scaleless look now.

My only alox is a Pioneer from just a few years ago.  I like the alox.  Wish they had back tools

Yes, the old beast still works.  It still has one scale mostly intact.  Some time or other I will make another scale for it and glue it on.  I leave it on my computer desk for general knife related activities.  Members talk about throwing old ratty knives away on MTO now and then.  Doesn't do anyone good in the landfill or tossed in the creek.  Still useful.  Best wishes.  G

Not as sad as other entries here (or, as a matter of fact, my first entry here) but, nevertheless in a rough shape;  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]    [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]    [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Not terribly sad, but sad enough.  Got some nice cracks, missing parts, and scratches.  Not everyone can have a SAK that has been in a microwave like friend Aztec.  I hate to make a post without a photo.  How about some sad rackos?  They got a little snack, but maybe not enough to be smiley rackos.  Best wishes.  G

Leaves here are very colorful.  Usually mostly off the trees by now.  Sad Wenger for today.  People like to criticize including a pry tool in their EDC.  From the looks of many Sad SAKs, maybe more folks should carry one instead of a pocket knife.  Nail file was bent on this one.  I kinked it back in line a little.  I remember straightening the blade tip on an Esquire or two, but don't recall if this one got that treatment?  Best wishes.  Gary

+1 for the pry tool. I’ve got a used Explorer with a bent bottle opener - clearly some prying going on in its past.

I’ve used my pry tool a few times. Once hammering it like a chisel so not something I’d want to do to my SwissChamp.

:iagree: A Gerber Shard costs very little, doesn't take up much room, and is better suited for prying tasks than the screwdriver or blades on one's SAK.

A Wenger Sad SAK, and a Wenger semi-Sad SAK.  I finally got some of the grit out of the Wenger Handyman.  Flushed it again with WD40.  Still some grit left.  Sad.  Best wishes.  G

The 65mm looks to be in darn good condition. Is there an issue with it that isn't apparent in the photo?

I remember straightening the blade on a 65mm.  I don't remember if it was this one or not.  The cross is about worn off, but the SAK is functional.  One Wenger in the photo seemed a little boring, so I tossed in the 65mm.  Best wishes.  G

I'm guessing it has a printed cross? A shame Wenger decided to go that route; their inlaid crosses with the red foil background were much nicer.

Printed.  That was one of Wenger's worst decisions, I think.  You can take an old Vic with the inlaid emblem, and it still looks good after it has been worn to a frazzle.  Best wishes.  G

Just a pair of sad SAKs.  Both of them missing the cross side of the Wenger scale.

Could use a good cleaning and sharpening but not bad otherwise.  Just haven't attempted a scale transplant yet.

Here's my most "extreme case", an Explorer whose blades were gouged; I try to pick the gouge's remnants in the pictures.  [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]    [ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

Thank you for the tip, Juan.  Very impressive polishing work you have done there!

Sad Wenger rode along in my coat pocket today.  This is it along with my usual walking stick/pole cutter/unfriendly critter whacker.  The Wenger did a good job of not cutting this deadfall.  Best wishes.  Gary

Yes.  I do some stuff myself, but anymore I just hire it out.  Especially the bigger stuff.  I bought the pole cutter at a flea market for $2 a number of years ago.  It has been sharpened quite a few times, and the rope has been replaced by me once.  I have a saw that will fit it, but it makes it more unhandy to use.  It actually makes quite a good walking staff, and the hook is handy to fish out trash from ditches or to pull down branches.  I use it year-round.  Best wishes.  Gary

Just a couple of sad SDs.  The need some polishing up, oiling, sharpening, and some fresh scales.  I'm debating if I should use them for spare parts or bring them back to life.

You know, those things wouldn't look half bad with some leather glued to them.  Might even let the brass rivets show through after you polish them up some.  Make a really comfortable neck carry Classic.  Best wishes.  G
