Saw for MP600/center drive?
on: August 13, 2024, 04:24:24 PM
Hope all are doing well today.

I just recently picked up a center drive plus in a trade with BPRoberts. I am considering replacing the file with a saw if possible. However, looking around for parts, i am surprised to see that it does not look like there are many, if any MP600s out there with a saw. I could put the remgrit adapter from my bladeless in the Center Drive, but I would lose the pry tool instead of the file. Not sure I’m a big fan of that route. Plus, I havent seen saw blades that fit in the remgrit adapter.

My questions are as follows:

1. Does Gerber make a MP600 with a saw blade? If so, any suggestions on sourcing just that part?

2. Does anyone make traditional saw blades (or normal blades for that matter) that will fit the remgrit adapter from the bladeless MP600? I don’t think it is the standard jigsaw style blade.

Thanks!!

I don't know if a 600 saw, but the Diesel does.  I'm not sure how difficult the swap is, but I can PM you instructions I got from Antti Lami on swapping files in a CD.  Juan El Boricua has done all kinds of blades for his blade less MP600.  Check out the MP600 Owners Club towards the end.  He has pics posted.

I think you're going to like the Center Drive.  It's a solid MT.

The Diesel saw should fit the Centerdrive without problems, as I've seen them in MP600's without (or minimal mods), as they share the same pivot hole diameter, lockout nick and size as long/outer tools; the CD's file and serrated edge blade are as a matter of fact the same as the MP 600. For jigsawblades, you'll have to look into Amazon, or Ebay, as they're the old standard: "universal u-shank jigsaw blade" be on the lookout for the ones with a hole in the shank, as it is needed for the lockout spring from the holder to work.

Edit- probably a saw of a  Gerber Suspension will work also but, it will be minuscule for the CD's handles.

Thanks to both of you. You have been Barry helpful on this Juan.  :bis:

Here is my CD with saw, it locks perfectly in place. Saw i sent to Barry is better than this one since it lines with frame, this version is custom saw made from foxtail saw, i sent Barry modded Rebar saw blade.

I saw a modification of the MP600 with a saw from Daicamping, but I didn't save the pictures, because the MP600 is already good. I don't know whether the saw needs to be adjusted to fit the place or not.
