YouTube is your friend.  However, I found a billfold kit at a local hobby and crafts store for around $10.00.
Been good for several years now.
Addicted to sharp pointy things.

First of awl, what do you need? Just bills and/or coins? Cards? How many cards? I'd say to look for a model that meets your needs and then look around YouTube for different models with the same characteristics.

You won't have no problem finding DIY videos on every model you can think of.

How did it go with the wallet?

I have made 2 to be specific and wallet with card slots and especially billfolds are a pain to make without templates or good knowledge. To wide and the cards falls out, to narrow and it won't work. I made one for a friend pretty much freehand and he likes it and then a made another for myself using a template for the card slot and man I saved so much time!
