The answers to these sorts of questions are often in SAKwiki, though one may have to dig through the “History” and “Variations” sections for each model of interest. To use your two examples:
Was the Craftsman around long enough to get the 2005 (Stainless Steel) version of the Metal Saw/File?? before it was discontinued?
From the “History” section of
https://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Craftsman“it was probably discontinued round about 2005, as it has been seen with a VSS tang stamp, but does not appear in the catalogue for 2006.”
So this is a difficult question, as the two changes in question apparently both occurred in 2005. Probably safe to say that either there wasn’t overlap, or that relatively few examples with the stainless metal file would have been produced.
Was the Master Craftsman around long enough to get both the Space Shuttle logo AND the multipurpose hook or was the Space Shuttle already gone from the top scale when the 1991 Hook was introduced?
From the “Variations” section of
https://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Master+Craftsman(Emphasis added)
“The Space Shuttle model was produced in the early 80's and featured a space shuttle logo on the top red scale. The Space Shuttle models were based on the Astronaut model. There was some overlapping of production in 1991, since
there are models found both with and without a hook. A Shuttle variation is available which includes the newer fine screwdriver and chisel on the back. This later shuttle variation (still identified as 1.4763.SS) contains the newer fine screwdriver and chisel, as well as the hook on the back.”
