The wife and I are in Maryland now after a 1600 mile drive from our home in Georgetown Texas, to our son's condo in Rockville Maryland. I'd forget how much and green the eastern hardwood forest is.
I left Texas with three SAK's. My little humble classic has been used to open all kinds of snack packs on the road, and the alox bantam has served well as a paring knife while making sandwiches from food in the small cooler we carry in the car rather than junk food on the road. The alox bantam also has served as paring knife in my son's kitchen cutting veggies for salad and other light duty job. So far in the week since we left home, not more has been needed while both on the road and here in Maryland.
Traveling on the U.S. interstate roads, there's not much need for a lot. It's not like taking a conestoga wagon across the plains in 1874 with civilization far between empty lands. Traveling through Arkansas, Tennessee, and up through Virginia, it's been a civilized time, with stops at motels at night. Traveling on interstates in the 21st century by car is not bad. So far, the alox bantam and classic has handled all we needed. The old Wenger SI I packed in my bag in case of some heavy duty need, has not been needed yet.
