Day 13

Getting horribly confusing with all these night shifts, but I’m sure I’m still up to date.

Some use for the screwdriver around 5am, but that was a two-handed job. Just a picture of a dramatic reenactment tonight.

Day 13, a MONDAY🙄

Started out as a Monday can!
Cuisinart coffee maker would not ready this morning.  Reported it required to be DESCALED😕

Bond blade, used to open a new jug of WHITE VINEGAR, and a new water filter for the water reservoir.

Process completed, and after producing 2 rounds of 60 ounces of water / vinegar (40/20) mixture and then a rinse cycle of 60 ounces, I was able to brew my first cup of coffee.   Faulted cleared during second process   Sorry no pictures, phone and water with attitude before coffee not good environment!

Then while preparing dinner, alarm beeps break my tranquil kitchen!  Damn, a smoke detector tripped due to oven crumbs, turn on oven vent, lit candle, and then searched for offending alarm, not down stairs, louder near stairs. Not upstairs either!

Not a smoke detector, back door sensor battery reporting low!!!’ Temps in mid teens must have caused low readings.   By passed alarm, will change after supper.

* IMG_7037.jpg (Filesize: 493.46 KB)

Large blade removed sensor from door frame. Needle nose removed battery from housing, blade removed battery from double wrap child proof plastic pack.

Then put awl back together.

Downside is blade and driver both closed down during use, non locking  affect,  use to completing tasks with REBAR. NOW MUST BE MORE CAREFUL!!!
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Yessir sounds like a Monday for sure!  If the day starts out with a coffee maker mishap, carefully turn around and go back to bed.  It's not going to improve!  I'm glad that tool slip didn't hurt you Gordon.  It's funny how used to locking tools we've become.

I did 12 years of them Crunchie.  I know exactly where you're coming from.

I think I’m at around 12 years too.

Were you permanent nights, or switching shifts?

I usually do seven nights, three days off (finishing at 6:30am on the first rest day), three or four earlies, then back on nights.

Permanent.  My shift was exactly like yours.  I liked it the first few years, but it reached the point that I just couldn't sleep bc beyond 3-4 hours.

Day 13

Used the Bond today to open a new to me Wave +.

Once I got it out of the mailer, I soaked it for half an hour in 70% isopropyl alcohol. I then scrubbed it down with with an old toothbrush and used an old paint brush to get into all the hard to reach areas. Even after the good cleaning there was some kind of nasty film all over it. I then used dawn dishwashing soap and repeated the process. Flushed it out with hot water, then dried it out with compressed air. I knew it needed a new blade and a flat driver. I replaced those with parts I had from my parts bin. I also changed out the bits since they were worn and broken. I then sanded out as many scratches as I could this evening. After, I lubed up all the pivots and added a clip I got from a Surge.

Now I am ready for a Wave Wednesday.

JonesE
