Great story, enjoy the knife with your memories  of your dad when you get it back.

I have my father’s old super tinker, and after replacing the scissors spring and lost toothpick I carry it about once a week with great memories of my dad, worn down blades and all.

Wow, this is a great thread! Hope they managed to fix it for you. That SAK deserves to be around for a few more decades.

Beautiful SAL with a great history.
I wouldn't do anything about it; clean it up and pass it on to your children.
If you need one, buy a new one and enjoy the old SAK and its memories.
Now you'll have it new and functional, but without any combat wounds.

Amazing job - I would be very happy to own that knife.

Interesting though - They have 'moved it on' a few years.
They have found a lovely old blade from 70+ years ago - But not the original Armée Suisse one that was there, and you got a nice new clip-point old blade (is that a contradiction!!)
They replaced the fibre scales w Cellidor - and they installed a bail - interesting ??? (always loved the bails!)

Not sure if they replaced the scissors or just re-sharpened and probably all other parts original?
- Maybe changed the liners?!

But overall ..... Fantastic

EDIT: Think the original scales were Celllidor - Just a very deep red w age ? ???

They sent the old parts back. They replaced the scales and blades (and the missing tweezers and pick). Everything else was cleaned up.

Thanks for clarification - Good to know all tools are original - apart from the blades
And great that you still have the originals   :tu: :tu: :tu:

I think I just changed my original thoughts/recommendation on this - ie keep as it was!!

Here’s what came back with it. The scales, blades, piece of a stud and what was left of the scissors spring.

I’ll put it in the carry rotation, but will use it gently for sure.
