I think it's there for a pop of color, it could have easily been black or stainless. I think offering three different color options is nice and I know it can be considered a gimmick. The coating should hold thigh, think maybe there cerekoted. Could be wrong.

I just saw some actual photos of the Cascadia. It’s unbelievable how nice it looks compared to Leatherman’s computer generated images.

  I saw on a video or something about the brass accents.  Looks more like orange cerakote accents.  Is it the photo, or did they change things?  Best wishes.  G

They're calling it copper I believe but to me it's just orange cerekote

I hate to say this but I'll probably buy 4 or 5 and scatter them around my kits. I have stubbys or finger drivers but nothing as small and convenient as this.

An update. I bought 3 as I said before with plans to use them as zip pulls for my back packs and emergency kits. The center hole works great for the normal size bits and the Leatherman flat bits. Per the instructions you can use the flat bits by threading them through the 2 slots on the ends reserved for the Paracord. By the way, they don't seem to be Paracord.

The 2nd way (using the slots) work great with flat bits and you actually get a better grip. Unfortunately any Phillips bit end will only fit through the 1st slot and not the 2nd slot as it is thicker. So the bit is not secure and wiggles.

In essence it only works for bits that are thin enough to fit the 2nd slot. So I contacted Leatherman to see if I could return it. Pics below.
