Is SAAM's website and info gone permanently?
on: June 27, 2025, 08:25:15 PM
I loved gazing at all the information over on SAAM's website.  Is the information gone permanently?
Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

Like friend Antti said, Wayback Machine has the site archived.  WM is part of the internet archive.org.  Their search engine crawls the web and takes images of everything periodically.  It is fairly simple to search for the archived SAAM pages and copy them for yourself.  I posted some of these pages on MTo some time back.  They are still here, if you can find them.  Best wishes.  G

We had a bit of a chat about it here FB:
https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,75774.msg2450579.html#msg2450579

I may be able to get a connection with the developer of that brilliant site
What I would love to do is reproduce the site or at least the tools development page in SAKWiki

I intended to remove the last link I left here.  For some reason, I could use the link, but couldn't access the site from the copy?  Sorry for the inconvenience.  G

The developer, NinjaZ, used to be a member here but hasn't been active in iver a decade.

The metodi.me site says it's under construction and will be back soon, but if you wish, you can try contacting him by email.

I did talk to him some years ago, but can't remember on which platform that was.

Somewhere we have the SAK Selector that was built during the old SOSAK days.  You just put in what tools your knife has and it pops up with what model it is.  It was built by Bob Quinlan who was nice enough to provide the software back to us a while back.

I'm not sure what state it is currently in, but I have always wanted to add it to SAKWiki.  Perhaps we should have a chat with Micah some time when he isn't flat out at work.

As far as I remember, there isn't a separate database, it's all written inside the module, so no easy adding of new models. And everything made in the last 20 years is missing.

It's a nice tool, but no longer current.

Hey Nicola,

I know he has made a couple of edits to the site since leaving MTo - But for a couple of years now it's been gone.

When I access a couple of links I have for SAAMS - I either get a security warning screen or a site no longer exists message
What link did you use pls?  ???

I did try contacting him via the email address registered here at MTo a few times  - But nor reply .... but no return 'Unknown email address' message either, which is strange    ???

I may be able to contact him via another member here tho' - So am trying that
I also heard that he is not into SAKs anymore - So would not be updating the site !

Aha - Yes - So it does - Thanks - Brilliant   ;)

I tried one of the links in the Wiki: http://victorinox.metodi.me/91mmtools.php
We have the same one here in the SAK dating thread - And this link says the site does not exist.

I'm sure I had and tried another one that gave the warning message
