Fixed Blade Challenge October
on: July 06, 2025, 03:06:50 AM
Alright, slashers, I've been starting to try carrying small fixed blades more. I think I'd like to try a whole month of (mostly pocket) fixie fun. And what better month than October, when the 120 stars in a movie every year?

Who's in?

I’d be up for a fixie challenge at some point, but would probably have to be outside of football season for me.

I was going to suggest an EDC fixie challenge for October later this summer, and you've beat me to it.  I will be very happy to join in on the fun.  Thank you, Mr. Roberts!

Gotta bump it every once in a while until then.

Any good small fixed blade multitools out there? I could've swore there was a fixed version of the Kershaw Shuffle, but I can't find it on the site.

A fixed blade multitool is a hard ask.  There's not many I can find.  The Kizer Drop Bear comes with toothpick and tweezers. Smith & Wesson offers a neck knife that has a hex bit driver (but doesn't come with bits), a bottle opener, and a castle nut wrench which isn't much use if you don't have an AR-15 with a loose stock that needs tightening.  Many rigging knives come with built in shackle key slots. Dive knives may come with chisel tips that can drive screws. Many skeletonized knives may have a built in wrench or screwdriver tip.  There's got to be something out there.  :dunno:

I thought the first generation NRS Pilot and Copilot knives were interesting, but the new models lack the features of the originals.  Might find them used though.

Well, after taking stock of my collection of small fixies (and acquiring a new one  ), I’m in.  I’m going to need a SAK/MT to repair football equipment though.

A machete counts as a fixie right?

Or maybe I should just  tell the wife that I "need" to buy another carryable fixie.  :D

I think I'm up for this one. Maybe I'll see my old Eldris, and even get one of those Buck neck knives. (I can't remember what they're called right off the top of my head.)

A machete definitely counts, but we can tell your wife it doesn't...

It's going to be a Buck heavy month on my end. Interested to see what I can come up to actually carry day to day unobtrusively. Glad to have you aboard.
