Ideas for modifying Brushed Stainless Classic

I just removed and cleaned the glue from a Brushed Stainless 54mm. I want to Gun Blue the tools and Aluminum Black the liners. I would like to try heating up the scales with  a torch to get some color on it but I’m afraid it might not turn out the best. Anyone want to talk me out of it based on similar experience?

Stainless steel doesnt oxidize like titanium and aluminium
