Day 12

Another month, another picture of my wife borrowing my knife to cut her food. I don't know how she didn't starve before me.

That is pretty much it.  All the ingredients are know to have health benefits with most being anti-bacterial and/or anti-viral.  I’ve been using Master Tonic or the very similar Fire Cider for several years. Can’t prove a negative, but I haven’t been sick.

Well I believe you!

My mom drank a blend of apple cider vinegar and warm water before bed every night as long as I can remember when allowed to stay up that late.

She passed away at 92 in 2024!   Never ever was prescribed a prescription for an ailment in her life time.  Only a pain med she did not take after breaking her wrist at 85!

Still walked a mile daily, had to sneak a couple air tags in different coats just track her just in case.

She ran out of vinegar in early June / late May and did not tell my sister who does her shopping.
In July she was hospitalized for a UTI, and slid down hill quickly.  She was tired and lonely as all her friends were gone.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 12

Planning to cut up cardboard boxes this afternoon, I find a serrated edge works very well.

Making decision as to which blade gets the duty seems to take longer, and longer! 🤪

Can’t recall the name of this Gerber; they made so many variations that were similar.  Handle is too short though…

Looks like a nice beefy knife, shame the handle is too short.

Nice Imperial.  It has a mice resemblance to the Sodbuster which I find comfortable.

:iagree: Not an expert but I think the less agressive serrations of the Rebar would do better.  Curious what you decide.

The wife doesn’t need your knife as much as she wants you (and your tool) to feel needed and appreciated.  Mine asks me all the time even though I know she is perfectly capable.

The REBAR did the task.  Has been a while since I have enjoyed the use of my REBAR in hand
Actually the OzHT is capable but slightly more stout. And can develop hot spots .

I don’t doubt.  I think many old folk remedies have at least a little behind them. When I first heard about the Master Tonic, I was doing some research and found many articles acknowledging the health benefits of some of the individual ingredients just would not come out and say the concoction itself had benefits.  I also find it interesting over the last couple years Fire Cider, which has very similar ingredients plus honey, has become readily available in some places, even on Amazon and my local health food store.

Impressive results. I may brew a batch up and see if I can tolerate it. It’d be a bold bacterium that dared to mess with a person who was full of that stuff.
I wouldn’t discourage, however, if you don’t want to put in al the effort for an initial try, you could look for a small bottle of Fire Cider. Many recommend as little as 1-2 tbsp per day.

For someone with smaller hands, it would probably be fine.  For me, if I’m not very deliberate about how I grab it, the (totally unnecessary IMO) glass breaker jabs me painfully in the palm.

Today MP600, used serrated blade to cut open those annoying plastic bands on pallet
The serrated blade is perfect for that task!

DAY 15 MINI CHALLENGE

ReamerPunch has kindly allowed me to set the next mini challenge, for Thursday January 15.

The challenge is to post a picture of a black item of carry alongside one or more items of your seasonal outdoor apparel. Seasonal in your hemisphere and location, that is. Could be clothing, footwear, a pair of shades or at a pinch a backpack or other bag.  You might be wearing it, or not.

Bonus points if the item of apparel is also black but that is not necessary. Bonus points for outdoor action shots.

Day 12
Opened some ground beef for dinner

I recalled one point made during a seminar we attended for a better lifestyle.   Much of the emphasis was directed to Vegan or Vegetarian  diets.

“if you can not or there is not a vegan option, then eat what eats a vegetarian diet!”

There was only one alternative that I could think of, peopled argued but eventually they agreed to my selection.

Good choice SOS24!!!

Day 13

Here is my small Tntor power bank:

(Image removed from quote.)

It is useful, but not very interesting.

A couple weeks ago I noticed my very similar power pack was sitting on the counter askew!   Examined it and found the case was swelled at the edges. And it was warm, not hot, just warm.

I took it outside wrapped a wound of duct tape top to bottom, then around side to side and wrapped in some old bubble wrap.  And placed in a metal 5 gallon paint pail with lid on it.
All intentions to deliver to electronic recycling.

Two nights later, inside the house I heard a boom, felt a vibration and heard my pictures on the wall jiggle.

Investigated, at that time, nothing obvious, Neighbors next door and across the street poke heads outside as well.

Next day I find the 5 gallon pail laying about 20 feet from where I had placed at the side of the garage. Found the lid in back yard about thirty feet the opposite direction in a tree about 15 feet high. Bubble wrap melted, tape shredded and burnt.

If that had been on the counter in my kitchen, I am certain I would have been harmed, an or my house severally damaged by the concussion and fire.

Do not store out of sight or even over night to charge.

The only reason it was on the counter was that I had removed from a sling bag and had planned to take upstairs to place in my flight carryon back pack.

Now I understand why airlines ask if these are in your carryon to some degree.

Damn, that is a cautionary tale!

I have two of these Tntors, the older one I’ve had for a few years, and so far they have behaved well. I had better start giving them regular check ups.

Yes, pay attention to charging functions and life span of a charge.

LIon charge cycles fade quickly as they deteriorate.
( I use to test different LIon cells for equipment we supported in the ATM INDUSTRY!)

Thinking now, I may have only experience severe swelling only if I kept at a moderate temperature.  But I also knew what could happen either way. They can be unpredictable.   But, outside in sub 20°F temps and higher dampness causing freezing may have been cause of violent result.

Just keep eye on cases bulging.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

One of the best features about this Gerber LST is the half stop. It just makes closing the blade so much more comfortable than a slipjoint without one

Challenge accepted!

I like the look of that bit driver. It makes me regret passing up the Center Drive that was in the surprise box back in 2021.
